Chicago Skyline

Yesterday was another FUN Wine & Canvas event at Village Vintner!  I was SUPER excited to create this painting, and while it was a little intense, it did not disappoint!  So let's check it out...
There was LOTS of fun color blending to start:

We used blue, white, purple, red, and white to make a wonderful sunset.
Then, we did the same to make the lake:

And then it was time to add the buildings to build the skyline:

This is where I had to pay VERY close attention, because my OCD set in, of course.  Here is what it looked like before we added windows and the park:

Oh yeah, look at all of that!  The last things to do were to add some windows, lights of the park, and don't forget the red lights on the top of the big buildings, so planes don't run into it.  And this is what I ended up with:

This will be an awesome addition to my cube! I'm almost excited to go to work today, but it's supposed to snow and it's, well, Monday.
Check out some more pictures from Wine & Canvas North Chicago, as well as Village Vintner, on Facebook!

Nails day

Yesterday was nails day. My ears didn't come out quite right, but they're still fun!

I played more with my striped stencil today, too, so be sure to check tomorrow for that. Tomorrow is another wine and canvas, and I'm super excited to be making this:

Oh yes! Chicago skyline!!
And today we got golfball sized hail! And then it was 70 degrees. C'mon man!

Can it be spring and stay spring?!

Using Air Today

For today's WTUI Challenge, Toni has challenges us to use air.  I immediately ran to my Copic airbrush system to make a little scene of clouds and grass.  I was SUPER proud of my card, and then it happened... I stamped my sentiment upside down.  Oh c'mon man!!! Try as I might, I could not get it fixed, so I chucked that and started all over with something completely different.  I still used my Copic airbrush system, but this time, I was going plaid:

Yeah buddy - plaid!  I took a stencil from MFT and sprayed a white piece of card stock with a G19 Copic marker.  Then I flipped the paper and tried to spray with a Y18 marker, but... yup, I ran out of air.  I use the air cans, not the compressor.  So, I punted (again)!  I took my yellow PowderPuff chalk ink by Quick Quotes and pressed it on to the paper (stencil still on top).  Then I spray Gold Smooch Spritz on top.  You can kind-of see the glimmer on the right-most yellow stripes.
I quadruple-checked my sentiment and stamped it down.  This will be a graduation card, and the school colors are yellow and green (in case you couldn't guess).  I did a few mats and a ribbon and called it good.  I decided to quit while I wasn't as far behind.  In any event, I hope you can play along today!

FUN Jounals

I found this adorable shop yesterday called Angelina.  I went NUTS there, especially around these FUN journals!  I'm actually excited to go to work on Monday to use one.  There were several different styles, but this is my favorite:

I'm hoping my mom isn't reading my blog, because it would totally spoil her Easter surprise, but here goes...
My parents are going on a cruise, so I got her the most perfect travel journal there:

And here is a sample of the inside that I made for her.  Of course, I blocked out their specifics, but I think you get the idea.  I used a FUN Samantha Walker kit and some washi tape.  Yes, Mom is getting the washi tape too!

You see the FUN pages that come in the book already??!!  This thing is just FABULOUS!!! I'm SUPER excited that I found Angelina today!

Wow it's April?!

Hi there!  Yes, I'm still alive, although I wasn't so sure last weekend!  There is this HORRID virus/flu going around Chicago.  It's not all that shocking with the ridiculous swings in weather we have had.  I was able to get a little crafty yesterday - YEAH!!!  I am hosting the WTUI challenge this week, and I challenged you to use something new, but the catch is - it needed to be purchased over a month ago.  That is SO not a problem for me, sadly, because I haven't had much time to play.  I also signed up for the Studio Calico Mixed Media class, and lesson 1 was posted this week.  Since I followed the class instruction for my card, I'm not going to give you the step by step, but here it is:

I used just a couple of new-to-me things - NeoColor Crayons, Modeling Paste, Lindy's Stamp Gang Flat Fabio mists, Stephanie Barnard mist, Memory Box stencil, Peony Stamp & Stencil kit by Stampers Anonymous, Stampin' Up! ribbon, and a Patterned Brayer.  The only things that were "old" on this card were Basic Grey ink and greeting by Stampin' Up! and Gesso by Ranger.
Here is a close up of the patterned brayer in gesso then colored with the NeoColor crayons:

And here is all the stuff I used on this FUN card:

I so cannot wait for the NEW video to be posted for the next lesson.  The class is less than $20, and it's the best money I've spent so far!
I am on my way to a ThirtyOne meeting to see the BRAND NEW Summer catalog... I cannot wait!!! I am looking for organizations that would like to do fund raisers.  I do one per month.  If you're interested, you can leave a comment here or email me at michellesingle31 {at} gmail {dot} com.
Have a great weekend!
