This weekend was the FUN card boot camp on SCS called Virtual Stamp Night (VSN). I am about halfway done with the cards, but there is more playing to be had today! Yesterday, I got to see my friend, Laura, who owns Creative Vision Stamps at a Stamp Scrap Art Tour. Of course, I had to pick up a bunch of her fun stamps there and couldn't wait to play with them, as well a bunch of the fun new things I got at the show. So here goes...
The first challenge was to use a globe image, and this was posted Friday night, so I searched high and low for a globe image at the show to no avail. When I got home, lookie what I found:
I got this stamp as a freebie from CHA. It even says it's a globe, so I'm good! Here's what I did with it:
I used a new stencil from Memory Box with the Copic airbrush system, then stamped the globe by Tim Holtz with Brown Momento ink. It seemed a little plain, so I used my favorite Kraft Glimmer Mist with a Mr Huey stencil that I got when my Archivers closed (*sniff*sniff*). I ripped the top and inked all the edges with Denim Distress Ink. I "attached" it to the Kraft card base with some fun washi tape. And that was all for card 1.
The next challenge was to use leaves, but not make a fall card. When I saw this Birch Tree by Creative Vision Stamps, I knew right away that I wanted to use it with paints to make the leaves. I stamped the Birch Tree with Brown Momento on a card by Fancy Pants Designs. I used several Distress Stains, two Copic markers with airbrush, and Peridot Silkz paint to make the leaves. Here is what it ended up with:
I cut the card down to fit on the Kraft card base. I added Kraft seam binding with a stay put bow. The bottom corner looked naked, so I colored a greeting by Art Gone Wild with a Nougat Big Brush pen by Faber-Castell and stamped it in the corner. I accented the You with two Pitt Pens. And here you have it...
The next challenge was to use a Lion or Lamb image, since March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb. Since I am SO done with March's lion stuff, I totally went lamb. This adorable Toy Lamb by Creative Vision Stamps was perfect for this challenge. I stamped it in Worn Lipstick Distress Ink on Chalk Studio patterned paper by My Mind's Eye and then cut it out with a scalloped circle Framelit by Sizzix. I used several Liquid Pearls to outline the scallops, colored it with Pink and Blue Spica pens, and here is what it ended up as:
I used the MFT Sketch for this week, minus a layer because I was running behind on my time. I added another strip of Chalk Studio paper, stamped a Stampin' Up! greeting with London Fog Momento ink, and added a couple small pearls. Here is the final product:
For my last project, I skipped the White on White challenge, since my fingers were all inky and went to my WTUI friend's challenge to use a song. The challenge said "somewhere over the rainbow", and that totally stuck in my head. I used Gelatos by Faber-Castell on watercolor paper, blended with water, then spritzed with Perfect Pearls mixed with water. I colored a sentiment by Hambo Stamps with lots of Big Brush pens, then spritzed with the same pearlized water. I stamped it 3 times until the image was clear then cut it out with a Framelit by Sizzix. I cut another piece of Chalk Studio paper with another Framelit and inked the edges with Moonlight chalk ink. I mounted the whole thing on an orange card.
I'm off to create more for today... I had an idea for the white on white one, so that one is up first before I get my fingers all inky...
