Gettin' Scrappy

As I stated the other day, I'm about to begin a digital design at Jessica Sprague.  There are 2 advanced scrapbooking classes that are pre-req's for that class that I have to knock out before class begins on April 9th.  Here's the project I made for lesson one of the first one.

I hadn't shared pictures of the puppies in a while, so here you go!  I used the made-for-me-I-swear paper pack called Paws Up.  The other elements "come with" the class, or we made them in the class.  I'm SUPER excited to learn all these things in PhotoShop!  More to come...

Get Sentimental

Well, don't shed any tears... For today's Ways to Use It challenge, I'm asking you to make the sentiment the focus of your project.  I've been all canvas-y lately not sure what's up with that, but anyway, here is what I made...
The rainbow effect was make with Gelatos, which are the coolest things ever!  They are like crayons for grown-ups.  As you can see, they are quite opaque, even when you add water.  Unfortunately, the photo does not come close to doing this justice! The sentiment is Ordinary Days from Technique Tuesday.  I had to force myself not to use Bring on the Sun, although, that would have worked here too.  I had to spread the stamping love.  But, MAN, was that HARD!  I added a few fun embellishments, and I was done.
I hope you'll play along!

Pretty Peacock & a Video

Happy last week of March to you... can you believe it's almost April?!!?! Holy cow - where is this year going?? With the way the weather has been, you'd think it was June, not March, and I am SO not complaining! I am having a TON of fun creating things for the store, to include videos, which I had not really done before.  I hope you are liking them, and if there's anything you've seen on my projects that you want a video about, just let me know.  I've also signed up for Jessica Sprague's Art of Digital Design to start creating more digi products for the store. Taking requests for that, as well :)  If you're already a digi artist, drop me a line, I'm still hiring for the store.
Without further ado, I give you the video I created for my favorite crafting product - the Silhouette!

The print & cut feature is probably my favorite aspect of the Silhouette, since you all know I HATE CUTTING.  This gives me the "fussy cut" look without fussy cutting at all - {swoon!}
For today's challenge on the Can You Digi It? Blog, we are playing with peacocks, so of course I had to try my hand at creating something for that.  Peacocks are so cool!  You can see what I designed HERE in the store, and all during the challenge, these items are FREE, to include the print & cut files, of course, so you can try 'em out.
Here is my card that I kept quite simple, just a little Watercoloring without Water with Smooch (video on that is HERE) on the Peacock Feather print & cut image, of course.  It's hard to tell, but I printed that on vellum, which worked amazing in my laser printer, and my Silhouette.  This was the first time I used vellum in either machine, and I was very impressed with the results.  The sentiment is from my (current) favorite set - Bring on the Sun by Technique Tuesday.  I love ALL of the sayings in this set!
I wish you could see how sparkly this image is. I turned on my flash, and I think you can get a touch of it here...
I have another project in the works for my other peacock image, so you're not done with the peacocks just yet.  In any event, I hope you will come strut your stuff with our peacock challenge!

Using those Dog Days

It's Thursday, so that means a new Ways to Use It challenge.  Today, Cathy is challenging us to use those dog images.  I swear I had NOTHING to do with her choice, although, I seriously will NOT complain!
I decided to make something nice a simple.  I used the ADORABLE Sleeping Frenchie stamp.  I'm not really sure where the weird line down the middle of the forehead came from, but I think it adds a little character to the puppy.  The background is My Mind's Eye Dolled Up paper.  Inside the little tag, it says "Start every day with a smile" - GREAT advice!
I hope you'll play along with this week's challenge!

Smooch + Water = FUN!

As I promised on my Crazy Long Post, today, I have another video to show you.  This video had to wait for the fabulous UnderstandBlue, the muse for the technique, to strut her stuff over on Splitcoaststampers. If you're looking for more inspiration with this technique, check it out over there.  Without further ado, I give you smooch + water = fun!

Here's a close-up of the images, since they are a little tough to see in the video...

Over the Rainbow

Today, we have a new challenge over on the Can You Digi It? Store Blog, and Dana has challenged us to go over the rainbow.  Check out this fabulous chunk of inspiration she has cooked up for us...
WOW!!!!
Here is my creation for this inspiration:
This image is insanely sparkly, but why oh why does sparkle NOT show in a photo.  Here's one with the flash on to try to show you...

I hope you'll play along with the challenge this week, after all, we ALL want to find our pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, right???

It's VSN Time - Crazy Long Post!

Hi there!  Remember me???  Yes, yes, I know, I'm a horrible blogger!  I have been creating, and you can find some of my things on the Store Blog.  To make up for it, how about an INSANELY long post with TONs of things, to include TWO videos???  Ok, here goes...
First up, I hosted the 7 year celebration for the Ways to Use It challenge.  WOW!  Here is my card for that...
This was my first ever pocket card, and it was a TON of fun!  I used Dana's Corset stamp, which hangs so nicely inside the pocket.  I used Authentique's Genuine paper, which was cut with my Silhouette, which I'm happy to say I now carry in the store!

Next up is the FIRST video...

Here is the finished card for that...

I used KiniArt's adorable Dogs & Purse image that was just screaming for some bling, baby, bling!

Next on the list is the set of baby cards I made for this week's WTUI challenge that Hannah is hosting... The first card is the one that will go to the parents.

This is the set of Thank You cards I made to match.

In the close-up of the card, you can see how fun (and easy) these are to make.  I use the adorable ReviDevi set Sweet Baby Safari, which I printed on StripedElephant's Blue & Green paper pack.  I used Authentique's Genuine paper for the background - OMG I LOVE THIS PAPER!!!! It looks just like jeans, and has a slight texture to it, so you really get the illusion of fabric in this paper.  Speaking with Ryan from Authentique yesterday, he said they have already called for a reprint of this paper - well, duh! I have to force myself NOT to use it, seriously!  The cards were cut with my Silhouette (do I really need to say this?? :) ).

This brings us to the first day of the Spring Fling VSN!

For the first challenge, superjen has challenged us to use sunny colors.  I thought I should also pick a "sunny" sentiment, as well...
Hee hee!  I used LilyPink Designs' Lemons & Tequila sentiment in the colored version (you only get 45 minutes for a VSN challenge, so I take all the short cuts I can get).  I used the print & cut feature on my... yeah, you guessed it, the Silhouette!  The lemon peel is embossed with ColorBox's scented embossing powder that I got for sitting through their AMAZING class on Smooch at CHA... let me tell you how rough that was!  Oh, the hardships we face!!!  More about that fabulous part of my life later...

And we move on to the next VSN challenge where Mit240z has challenged us to love the spring (which I OH SO DO!) and use a heart or the word love on our card.
Here is my little rocker love card.  I used AnnieJDesigns' Guitar image, along with some fabulous My Mind's Eye Dolled Up paper.  Throw on some Glitzers from Glitz Designs, and you're done!  The video for coloring the guitar will be posted Wednesday, so be sure to check back for that.

And we're movin' on to VSN challenge 3 where blondpolok14 (I love using the SCS screen names for just this very reason!) has challenged us to do some spring cleaning and use something 6+ months old.  Well, I did my mega stamp room purge a few weeks ago. I still have some things left if you're interested  here - http://pinterest.com/michelle_single/garage-sale/. In any event, that was challenging for me until I realized - RIBBON!  I did not put any ribbon up for the garage sale because I absolutely could not part with it.
I was up sorta crazy early this morning, so this was the product of a 4AM creation with no coffee... oh yes, that's right, the author of the blog Caffeine & Stamps was creating sans caffeine.  I sorta like how it turned out, though... totally not my normal style, but super fun!  I used Dana's Lampshade image with LOTS of gems and pearls.  It's hard to see because I chose a dark color to color the lamp, but the shade has wonderful swirls on it, which I tried to accent with some Smooch.

And speaking of Smooch, we are brought to VSN challenge # 4 where Stamp-it-up challenged us to use something that flies and the next video, which I call watercoloring without water...

This video is posted now on the Store Blog for today's Stock Spotlight Saturday. We stampers are TERRIBLE procrastinators, and yes, this video was shot this morning (in the wee hours), and yes, I did create the project based on the VSN challenge well after it had been posted.  THis was no "happy coincidence" where what I had created matched the challenge.
Here is the final project...
I used the Bag o' Chips from QuickQuotes, which are a fabulous thin chipboard.  They are so thin that when I spritzed the large one with Glimmer Mist, it rolled up.  I love the effect that made, so I didn't flatten it.

And last, but certainly not least, is the final VSN challenge for Friday where helmts1981 challenged us to make the hardest card in the repertoire - a sympathy card.  I actually was planning on doing one this weekend, as a co-worker of mine's husband has terminal cancer.  I don't like using traditional sympathy sentiments and all - I prefer something more uplifting, which is why I absolutely LOVE the Thinking of You set by Technique Tuesday...
For this occasion, I even decorated the inside of the card...
Those of you who follow my blog know that is the rarest of rare actions.  I thought this card needed it, though.  The little shamrock and Irish blessing were added, because she is Irish and celebrates it.  Everything on her desk is green, shamrock, Irish, etc.  I thought a little Luck of the Irish wouldn't hurt anyone at this time.  The sentiments were stamped on paper that has been marbled with Smooch - the video for this will be posted Wednesday on the Store Blog (hopefully, here, too, but I haven't been so good about that).
Today begins another day of VSN, so there will be more cards to come... hope you'll play along!
