Happy Birthday, Debra!

Today is Debra Miller's birthday, and we are celebrating by stuffing her virtual mailbox with cards.  Here is my card for the Debra, as well as Christine's One Layer Wonder challenge.
I busted out the watercolor pencils on the Strawberry Tea teacup!  I totally forgot I even had those.  And yes, even on a one-layer card, I can't figure out how not to use a die cut.
In any event, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEBRA!!!

Mixed Media Anyone?

So I've seen about 1000 different mixed media things, and I kept thinking I would try it.  Michael's had their canvases on sale like months ago, so I bought a couple. And yes, they've just been sitting there.  Until this weekend!
This is my first attempt at painting, let alone mixed media, and it's not bad, if I do say so myself.  We couldn't have a worse day for taking photos, either, so sorry about the pic.  I used my safety blanket - the adorable peek-a-boo penguin from The Stamping Boutique.  He is colored with Copics, the globe is airbrushed with B01 then covered in Glossy Accents, and his hat and the snowflakes have Icicle Stickles on them.  There is silver mixed with white paint around the circle he's on with a ring of Icicle Stickles. The blue haze of the snow is airbrushed with Copic markers (like 10 blues because I couldn't decide), then I added white and silver paint over that, and Icicle Stickles and Icicle Glimmer Glaze as the finishing touches.  The tree is brown paint with Cowboy Glimmer Glaze and Icicle Stickles.  The clouds are MFT felt with Icicle Stickles. And last but not least are the pearls.

We Remember

Sorry I have been MIA on the blog... I realized that in order for scheduled blog posts to show up, you actually have to schedule them, not just put them in draft. *smack forehead!*  It's been pretty busy at work, so I didn't get my entry in for The Stamping Boutique's challenge, but I *had* to play! The current challenge is a color challenge with red, white, and blue.  I knew right away what I wanted to do when I saw this challenge.
Hopefully, I won't get thrown off the island with my use of green and yellow, but I think it still fits with the theme.  The blue is hard to see - it's chalked around the scalloped oval to make it look like a cloud.
This weekend, we remember those who have paid the final sacrifice for our freedom.  Honor them by cherishing your family and friends, but most of all remember that we can BBQ this weekend without having to look over our shoulder in fear because of them.
Other Challenges Entered:
Craft Us Crazy - Rembrance
Moving Along With the Times - Holidays
Shelly's Images - Let It All Hang Out
Stamp Insanity - Red, White, and Blue
Crafting for All Seasons - Anything Goes
For Fun Challenges - Patriotic Colors
The Paper Shelter - Anything Goes
Scrapalicious - Memorial Day
Simply Scrapping Crafts - Color
Simon Says Stamp - Stars and Stripes

No Card Here!

Welcome to the second week of Stephanie's DDH Challenge to do Anything But a Card.  Today was my day to play, so I made an accordion file folder using THIS tutorial.  It was pretty easy after I finally purchased file folders.
This is the front, and I used the set called Americana Stamps, which I airbrushed.  On to the inside where I used a TON of things...
Since this was going to be for my husband for his birthday, I decided to keep the embellishments to a minimum, but we had to have the puppy stuff!  The bone is from the Pup set; the Pug from the Cuddle Pug set; and the tag is from the Christmas Tags set.
We hope you'll play along with DDH this week!

Challenge & VSN

Today is a super special day - it's a NEW challenge for Shannon's Sentiments AND it's day 2 of VSN!  Today, Christy has given us a great challenge, but it was QUITE challenging for me.  Christy has challenged us to make birthday cards.  Ok, so what's so difficult about that, you ask?  Well, all of my May cards are headed to Landstuhl in support of Cards for a Cause.  While a couple of birthday cards are ok, no one really wants to be reminded it's their birthday when they're in the hospital.
Hopefully, Christy won't be too mad that I chose "Thoughts of You" instead of "Happy Birthday" for my sentiment.  Personally, I'd love to get this card for my birthday.  I used an older set called Spring Time for my card, and I coupled it with the stamps from the Holiday Postal set.
Of course this card is for one of today's VSN challenge - it's for Paula's challenge.  I have to give a shout out to smokiesgal for THIS CARD, which was my inspiration.  She made that card for my VSN challenge last time... oh yes, it all comes full circle.
In any event, I hope you'll play along with any of the 3 challenges I have in this post - Sentiments Challenge, VSN, or Cards for a Cause.

VSN Day 1!!

Oh happy day!!! Today begins the Pirate Pirate Main Voyage VSN on SCS.

This card is for Amber's challenge.  Amber is currently stationed overseas with our military.  Thank YOU, Amber, for what you do!!!  This card is already on its way to Landstuhl to a friend of mine who was admitted last weekend for an injury he sustained in Afghanistan.  Stay strong, Mike!!!!
Don't forget you can get this NEW image from the Shannon's Sentiments' Independence Day set (and any others) can be yours for 25% if you use the code MayRel25 at check out.
I used the Flourishes sketch, at the suggestion of my friend and fellow VSN Coordinator, Toni.  I hope you'll play along with us tonight or tomorrow.  You do have until Monday night to upload your cards, so LOTS of time.  See ya then!

Hello There!

Why, hello there!  Guess what - TOMORROW IS VSN!!!!  Oh yes... I'm bouncing in my chair right now!
This card is for Ann's challenge on Saturday... oh yes, you have to wait TWO days to see this one UNLESS you are a Fan Club member and already have it!
There are some NEW toys on this card, like Glimmer Glaze.
You see all the sparkles on that flower??? Yup - that's Glimmer Glaze.  It's like Glimmer Mist in nail polish form.  Seriously!  This one is called Cowboy and is tan color.
But wait - what's this?? Oh yeah, the birdie has it too!  This one is called Icicle and is clear.
I hope you will join us tomorrow for VSN and also create a few cards for Cards for a Cause.

It's Time to Blast Back Again

Hi there!  Welcome to another Blast From the Past Blog Hop with Taylored Expressions.  This month, we are making it masculine.  Nothing says masculine like blue, brown, and dogs, right?

As I promised, I'm showing you cards for VSN all week.  This card is for Beate's challenge, which you can win prizes if you can figure out what it is.  For this card, I used Taylor's Sketch # 138 instead of Sankari's fabulous wonder.  Why? Because my email was acting odd and I couldn't pull up the photo of the sketch.  Sorry, Sankari!
Ok, there are LOTS of stops on the hop today, so I won't keep you.  I leave you with this one parting thought - this card, along with all my cards for May are headed to Landstuhl in support of Cards for a Cause.  If you're looking for somewhere to send that pile of cards, I hope you'll join me.  You can find all the details HERE, and please make sure you follow the rules, as they are there to save tears and allow for smiles.

Now hop on over to Stacey's blog.  Here's the full list of hoppers today:

Why is it a happy Tuesday, you ask?  Why, it's the Tuesday before VSN, of course!  Here is my card for Krystie's challenge.  If you are a Fan Club member, you can already see Krystie's challenge HERE.  If you aren't a Fan Club member, WHAT are you waiting for?!  You can check it out HERE.
Remember this Shannon's Sentiments stamp (and any others) can be yours for 25% off until May 22nd if you use code MayRel25 at check out.
This card, along with all my cards for May, is headed for Landstuhl very soon in support of Cards for a Cause.  I hope you will join me - details HERE.

Are You Ready for VSN???

Oh yes, it's that time AGAIN!  It's time for VSN on SCS.  I decided to lure you in with some of my projects this week.  As a Coordinator, I get to see and play with the challenges in advance.  How cool is that?! OH YEAH!  Today's card is for Erin's challenge.  Oh no, I'm not going to TELL you what the challenge is, BUT if you want to guess, there may be some prizes in it for ya...

Don't forget to check out the DDH Blog today, as Stephanie has a NEW challenge for us!  The little fishy scene was made with the DDH Stamp Set Under the Sea.  My orange didn't blend like it was supposed to, but I still think it's cute IMO.

This card, like all my cards for May will be headed to Germany in support of Cards for a Cause that I'm hosting.  You can find all the details HERE.  I hope you'll join me!

Peakin' Challenge

Welcome to our final preview day!!!!!  We're combining it with our usual Saturday challenge today so you'll get lots of eye candy for the new releases.

Today we're featuring the Getaway Car and Bride and Groom images as well as the Just Married and Lots of Thanks Add-on sets. The full sets with a blog hop will be starting at 6am EST on April 15th at the "Shannon's Sentiments" blog. We will also be hosting a chat at our CDAC group page at 8pm EST on the 15th as well.

Cindy is hosting the challenge this week and has challenged us to create a card featuring 3 flowers and no patterned papers.  REALLY, Cindy?!?! NO patterned paper?!?!?!

Take that, mean Cindy!  The ONLY "old" items on this card are the mini rolled roses and the corner rounder.  The sentiment and swirl are from the Lots of Thanks set.  The yellow felt, rolled daisy, and the doily are from my recent MFT Mother's Day goodies from my fabulous puppies.  And the pennant is from a set of Nesties that I just took out the package, as well.  The pearls were purchase by me for Mother's Day, as well - both the white (which is actually a stick pin) and the chocolate.  ALL NEW TOYS!  I am SO spoiled - oh wait, I deserve it!

This card, like the rest of my cards for May is headed to Germany. Why? Check out the details HERE.

Check out what the other members of our team have created with these images.

We're Hopping (Finally!)

Blogger is BACK!  Before it goes down again, I'm goign to re-post my blog hop card.
Today's hop is May Flowers.  I used the Fruits & Flowers set today.  Be sure to comment on EACH stop in the hop because TWO of our Dream Team members are hiding the mystery rose.  Two mystery Design Team members will be giving away a digi set of your choice from Digi Design House to a random commenter on their blog post. You have until 6:00PM CST on Sunday, May 15 to comment. At 6:01PM, the number of comments will be tallied, and the random number generator will do its magic to pick the winner. You don't know which team members have the candy, so make sure you comment on EACH stop in the hop. Additionally, all of the names of our faithful (those of you who comment on EVERY stop on the hop) will be put in a hat to draw an additional set! Oh yes, we are giving away THREE FREE STAMP SETS!

The next stop on your hop is HANNAH - ENJOY!

Sneak Peaks - Day 1

It's finally time for the "Shannon's Sentiments" May release!!!  This month we'll be releasing 4 large individual images along with 4 Add-On sets, and 2 full sets.

Today we're starting out featuring the Puppy Love and Independence Day sets. The full sets with a blog hop will be starting at 6am EST on April 15th at the "Shannon's Sentiments" blog. We will also be hosting a chat at our CDAC group page at 8pm EST on the 15th as well.

It was SO hard for me to decide which set to use for this preview day, and stupid work only gave me time for one card.  You *know* which set I'll be using for the hop... ;)  This is, of course, the Sweet Sunday Sketch for the week.

Check out what some of our other design team members have created using these images.

We'll see you again tomorrow for another set of previews.

Let's Get Around

With circles, that is!  Today begins a new challenge at The Stamping Boutique - and we're getting dizzy with circles!  How could I *not* use this absolutely adorable penguin?!
I used the MFT Sketch of the week (just barely!) and some NEW bling that my wonderful puppies got me for Mother's Day.  Aren't they the BEST creatures EVER?  I'm going to enter this into Hannah's bling challenge - wanna see the close-up of the bling?
Yup - those are ALL Taylor's Tiny Twinkles AND Stickles on his hat!
Before you run off to get dizzy with the circles, you may want to shop because today is DOLLAR DAY! Everything in the "What's New?" section will be just ONE tiny dollar!  Don't quote me on those details, but I'm pretty sure on that ;)

Challenge Day

**If you're looking for The Stamping Boutique blog hop, scroll down.**
It's Saturday, so you know what that means - a new challenge on the Shannon's Sentiments team.  Today is my challenge, and I'm challenging you to make a Get Well card or something that would bring a smile to someone's face who is recovering from an illness or injury.
I chose to make a set of bookmarks, 2 of which are shown here, to give a little something to the long hours spent in a hospital.  These bookmarks, along with all of my cards for May, will be sent to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.  I hope you will join me in this worthy cause.  You can find all the details HERE.

May Day Blog Hop

It's a HOP!  Today, we are hopping for May Day with The Stamping Boutique.  Better late than never, right?  I went COMPLETELY different for my hop item.  In honor of National Scrapbook Day, I made a little photo card that I printed and stuck in my mom's mother's day box.
If you didn't start at the beginning, you'll want to go back to The Stamping Boutique challenge blog and make sure to hop around because of course there's FREE STUFF to be had!  Your next stop is the lovely and talented Jeanne!  ENJOY!
But before you go... Check this out!

Bling it up!

This week at DDH, Hannah has challenged us to Bling It Up.  This was a challenge for me, because all of my cards for May are headed to Landstuhl, and that means some restrictions.  In the end, I think I made it blingy enough while still being able to send it to Landstuhl.
I used Spica pens to color the image, but blotted it with a paper towel to make sure the sparkles were all attached.  The little tag is spritzed lightly with Glimmer Mist, as well.
I decided on some pearls for a little extra bling.  Hopefully, Hannah won't fuss at me too much for my lack of true bling.  Not sure what I mean by sending cards to Landstuhl?  You can find all the details HERE.  Hope you'll join me!  Oh - I almost forgot - this is for the Sweet Sunday Sketch for this week.

Other Challenges:
Art Impressions - Bling
Craft Us Crazy - Flowers
Crafty Sentiments - Flowers
Divas by Design - Anything Goes
Flutter By Wednesday - Open, use butterfly (I used two :) )
For Fun Challenges - Flowers
Paper Crafting Journey - Bling
Paper Shelter - Bling
Paper Variety - Spray Mist
Stamp Insanity - Bling

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!  Have a margarita for me, since I do NOT do tequila.  Here is my last card from the mini VSN from Friday.  If you missed, it, no worries, you can play again in two weeks for the MAIN EVENT!  Hope you see you there!
This image, PJL Pirate, was drawn especially for VSN by Tracey of The Stamping Boutique.  How cute is this?!  The wood I used for Carole's challenge was the genius idea of my husband - it's wood veneer edging from a local hardware store.  GENIUS!  The mini VSN sure was fun; there are TONS of fun challenges in store for the main event.  I hope you'll play along!
Copics used: C3, C5, E000, E00, E01, E11, E15, E23, E35, E27, G16, G19, N5, N7, R01, R24, R27, Y08, YR18, Gold Spica
