I'm up!!!

It's time for MY VSN Challenge!!!  My challenge to you is to make a project that is kitchen or food themed. Shannon's Sentiments Saturday Challenge

It's Saturday, so you know what that means... another challenge with Shannon's Sentiments.  Today, Cindy has challenged us to fussy cut.   Yeah, that's me fussy cutting.  To make me stop crying, Shannon let me use two of the NEW stamps that will be coming out in the March release (mark your calendars for March 15 - you do NOT want to miss this release!!!).  New toys always work to stop the crying, right?  I think she really only let me do it because of VSN going on at SCS again TONIGHT, so make sure you come check it out!  If you're looking for yesterday's VSN challenge cards, scroll down - there are only 2 posts this time.  Since fussy was the theme, I went a little fussy vintage with the card, little something new for me.  Whatcha think?  I need practice, but I'm getting there...

VSN Day 1, A Summary

There were 5 challenges tonight.  Hopefully, you got to play in some.  Here are the rest of my cards for tonight's challenges.  Scroll down for the first one. {Warning - Long Post, but lots of fun!}
Ashley challenged us to use our wedding song to create our card.  My wedding song made me think of my wedding colors, which were black, ivory, and silver.  But I didn't want to make a wedding card, so I flipped it a bit to make a non-traditionally colored baby card.  Friends of ours are having a baby and don't want to find out the sex of the baby.  You can't tell me pink or blue, you're getting black and white!
Stamps: Nursery Necessities by SU
Ink: Silver Encore
Copics: None
Paper: Basic Black, Confetti White, Silver, Be Mine by Echo Park
Accessories: Jewels, Basic Gray taffeta ribbon
Grand Calibur:
None
Punches:  Eyelet border, Word Window, Crop-a-Dile (stay put bow)
Challenges Used: FEB11VSNB

For the next challenge, Misty challenged us to use a bird on our card.  Here's my bird poem...
Roses are Red
Birds are Blue
That's the way I color
What's it to you?
Seriously, I have the HARDEST time coloring a bird anything but blue... maybe there's a support group I could join?
Stamps: Cherry Blossom Bird by DDH
Ink: None
Copics: B02, B04, B06, B66, E57, V01, V05, V06, YR12, Baby Blue Spica
Paper: Georgia Pacific White, Crumb Cake by SU, Sweet Shop by DCWV
Accessories: Gems and Pearls by Hero Arts
Grand Calibur:
Labels 5
Punches: Corner Chomper
Challenges Used: FEB11VSNC

Paula has told us to use at least 2 techniques on this next card.  So, I did a bunch hoping that at least 2 would be "real" enough to pass... I used Faux Tearing, Creating a Beach Scene with Sponging/Masking, Masking, Stamping with Markers, Masking with Markers, and One Layer Card.
Stamps: Chillax by TE, Tropical Party by SU
Ink: Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight Soft Suede by SU
Copics: None
Paper: Confetti White
Accessories: None
Grand Calibur:
None
Punches: None
Challenges Used: FEB11VSND

This next challenge is very near and dear to my heart because it supports the fight against heart disease, particular the types that affect women.  As many of you know, I suffer from leaking valves in my heart and high blood pressure and go annually for an echo.  I would LOVE for others not to have to deal with this as I do.  The Heart Truth Campaign is striving to raise awareness of women's heart disease, and their symbol is a red dress, so Michelle has challenged us to make a project with a red dress.  I went completely digital for mine, with everything made by My Time Made Easy.  I colored the girl in PSE, added the digi paper and created the box for the sentiment.  Then I printed it out and mounted it on a Soft Suede card.
Tomorrow is the BIG TAMALE for VSN with 11 adult challenges + 1 kids challenge.  I have a challenge for this round tomorrow, so be sure to come check us out!  See you tomorrow!

VSN Begins!

It's TIME!!! It's time for the first VSN Challenge of the weekend!  Denise has us revved up with a fabulous sketch!  As you know, there will be LOTS of fun this weekend.  We hope you'll join us!  Can't make tonight or tomorrow? No problem! You have until Monday evening to upload your cards.  Come on in, the water's fine!  Without further ado, I give you the first project of the VSN.  All of the paper and elements came from my January Key Ingredient Kit from Taylored Expressions.

TE BFTP Blog Hop

Today we are blasting back in time again with Taylored Expressions' Blast From the Past Blog Hop.  The theme for today's hop is "Going Green."  That was a pretty easy one for me because green is one of my favorite colors.  Since it just keeps snowing here, the only thing I could think of with green was Spring... oh, please, Spring come SOON!  You should have come here from Sarabeth's blog, but if not, no biggie, the whole list of participants is at the bottom - there are 50 of us hopping today!!!! Can you believe it?!  After you're done marveling in the spring time sunshine the cute little Cuppie has provided, head on over to see what Lea has cooked up.  Have fun, and Go Green!

Sentiments' Challenge Day

Welcome to another challenge for Shannon's Sentiments.  If you're looking for The Stamping Boutique Blog Hop, scroll down, or go HERE.  Today, Becky Givans, out Guest Designer, has challenged us to use NO images, only sentiments.  Well, that seems reasonable, since the store IS Shannon's SENTIMENTS.  I decided to stick with the spring theme and do something bright and cheery, since it was raining the day I created this.

And We're Hopping!

Today, we are hopping with The Stamping Boutique, and our theme is Spring Fling.  Are you as done with winter as I am?!  Oh yes, I am D-O-N-E!  I was so excited to use these Spring images and colors!  And the weather here in the Chicago area was actually cooperating, too.  We had 40's in the middle of February!  And we return to our regularly-scheduled programming of the Spring Fling Blog Hop... If you came here from Melissa's blog, you're right on track. If not, you'll want to start at Amanda's blog and leave some love on each blog, because there is FREE STUFF up for grabs!  The last stop will be The Stamping Boutique Challenge blog, and there will be an Inlinkz for you to post your comment with your warm feelings.  But hurry, you only have until tomorrow (2/20/11) at 6PM EST to get entered to win.  Enough yabbering, on to the card!
For this Spring Fling Hop, Amanda gave us the fabo sketch, and I did my best to stick to it, and I'm proud to say I was pretty darn close!  This card is so shimmery IRL - I wish my camera wouldn't try to auto-correct me all the time... grrrr!  Anyway, if you look close, you can catch that shimmery vibe. When you're done, you want to head over to see what Miranda has cooked up (warning - it's a CUTE one!)... Enjoy!

More Changes!

Notice anything different on the ol' sidebar???  Oh yes, there is another Design Team to add to the mix!  But this time... wait for it... this time, I was accepted as the Design Team Coordinator!!!!!  OMG!!!!  Can you believe it???!!!!  The Digi Design House Dream Team Coordinator... I think it has a good ring to it.  I couldn't be more excited.  When I got the email from Jessica this afternoon while I was at work, I literally yipped.  Of course, my co-workers looked at me odd, but I'm pretty much used to that by now.

In celebration, I whipped up this quick card.  I've had the idea in my head since I laid eyes on this tiger, but just hadn't done it yet.  It's hard to see, but I colored the black areas with my Pitch Black Spica, so they give just enough evil glint... good boy card, don't ya think?  Anyway, I'm still beside myself!
Stamps: Tiger by DDH
Ink: None
Copics: R01 (on the nose), Melon Spica, Pitch Black Spica
Paper: Copic X-Press It, Basic Black & Garden Green by SU
Accessories: Leopard ribbon

Creative Craft World

Let me START by answering a question that was posted in a comment the last time I used this image - NO NO NO NO, I am NOT pregnant!  This card is for my cousin, who is pregnant with her 3rd child.  Ok, now that that's out of my system, on to the rest... Today, The Stamping Boutique is sponsoring the Creative Craft World challenge, which is all about squares.  So I completely got my grade school geometry wrong, which is pretty sad for a math minor... Squares are a type of rectangles, not the other way around, however, if you take the broader interpretation, I'm completely accurate, right?  Well, maybe not, but anyway, I like how the card turned out, so you're seeing it!

Stamps: Lattes for Two by TSB
Ink: None
Copics: E25, E33, E37, E50, E51, R00, R01, R83, R85, Chocolate Spica, Sand Spica
Paper: Copic X-Press It, Cameo Coral, Poteeka Souffle by The Paper Studio, I'm not really sure where the Blue came from

It's Release Day!!!

It's Release Day at Shannon's Sentiments!!!!  Holy cow has Shannon outdone herself!!!! There are FIVE full sets of stamps in this release... you heard right - FIVE!  Of course I went a little nuts, so warning - this is a long post, but worth the gazing!  Don't get too mesmerized, because there are MORE stops on the hop today.  Your next stop is our Guest Designer, Becky Givans.  Speaking of hop, you should have come from Cindy's fabulous blog.  If not, it's ok, the complete list of hoppers is at the end of this post.  Don't forget to join us tonight @ 8PM EST at SNR for the Release Party.  It's gonna be a BLAST!  Why? Because there's FREE STUFF to be given away tonight!
My first project to show you is 95% digital.  The butterflies and sentiment are from the Spring Time set.  Just having a little fun in Photoshop with them... perhaps you may see these butterflies again tonight at the release party... I merely printed it out, cut it out, stuck it on a kraft card, and added a little rhinestone butterfly... end of story!

My next project is a little more hybrid number that uses the new Shower Time set.  This set has a million options that I can think of off the top of my head... SO awesome!  I chose to go a little odd way (shocked, I know you are!)...

Stamps: Shower Time by SS
Ink: None
Copics: Baby Blue Spica, Olive Spica, Pink Spica (used on the sentiment)
Paper: Georgia Pacific White (print the digi image), Tempting Turquoise by SU
Accessories: Crystal Effects by SU, Dew Drops by The Robin's Nest
Punches: None
Big Shot:
None
Challenges Used: SS Release Day!!!

My next card is a super simple one (caution, it's a bright one, tho!)... just cut color the flower, print it, then cut 3 different Blossom 2 flowers, emboss the background in an embossing folder, add brad, glue.

The next two cards use my favorite set in the release - Hands of Time.  It's SO versatile!  As soon as I saw the clock images, I knew there was going to be some cracked glass in the future, so here it is!  I double-embossed the Big Scalloped circle, pretty much by accident, but I like the way it looks on this shabby card.   I set the clock to be 2:00, meaning 2:00pm, because that's when time seems to stop for me during the day... how about you?  I think the rest is pretty self-explanatory.
This last card was SUPER fun!  I made two elements for this card in PSE - the "plastic" number background and the brad.  The numbers are from the tilted clock image, just a little copy/paste action, and lookie there - some hip element to your page.  You notice the time on the brad?  Oh yes, it's 5:00 somewhere!  I've been wanting to use this cocktail images for some time, so here it is at 5:00! 5AM, but whatever, that's still 5:00, right?  Shannon will be giving away some of these elements I made, along with some other things, tonight, so you will NOT want to miss the release party!

Today's hoppers:

Kapree Clark
Cindy Groh
Michelle Single - you're here!
Becky Givans - your next stop

OMG I love love love L-O-V-E Hands of Time!  Be sure to join us tomorrow night for the Release Party on SNR - it's going to be a BLAST, and did I mention there will be FREEBIES!  I created this photo on the right with PSE, and then printed it, added a few elements, and lookie what I made below!  This will go on my desk at work.
For those of you who don't know, I have a thing for compasses and globes... maybe because I've traveled by means of both.  Anyway, I knew right away this would be PERFECT for a little photo of DH and me at Starbucks on our wedding day.  The background paper is freebie called Heart Paper.  The template and scruffy paper is from ChrissyW, of course.  The photo was antiqued using a hue/saturation layer in PSE.  The compass and quote are from the Hands of Time set (LOVE IT!).

This next project uses the Shower Time set.  I so love that quote!  Of course, the shimmer does not show on the clouds, but they have just a touch of sparkle.

Shannon's Sentiments Sneak Peak Day 2

It's Day 2 for the previews for "Shannon's Sentiments" release!!! It's a big reveal this month so we're previewing the sets over 3 days. Today we're featuring "Party Time" and "the Freebies".

The full sets with a blog hop will be starting at 6am EST on Feb. 15th at the "Shannon's Sentiments" blog. We will also be hosting a chat at our SNR group page at 8pm EST on the 15th as well.

There are unique giveaways this month that I promise you won't want to miss out on.

I have two simple cards for today.  The first has a special place in my heart because I made the little epoxy-looking brads on it.  Oh yes, someone has been playing with her Photoshop Elements!  (I got Shannon hooked on it too. )  This card is completely digital except the tiny bit of green Spica on the shamrock veins.  The shamrock is a FREEBIE this month... oh yes, you heard me right - it's FREE!

The next project uses my NEW Grand Label 4 & Fancy Tag Nesties that came in the mail Friday.  I used my Copic airbrush system with B34, E15, and E29 to make a little background.  You can kind-of see the little speckles on the sentiment, but the whole card is sprayed with Bronze Glimmer Mist.  I sprayed the back with Creme de Chocolat, so a few of the specks would filter over to the front but not overpower the design. The sentiment is from the new Party Time set and can be used for just about any card IMO.  A little Broken China distress ink and some Marina Mist 1/8" taffeta ribbon complete the card.  Super easy!

More inspiration from our design team to get your creative juices flowing for this challenge.

Shannon's Sentiments Sneak Peaks Start TODAY

It's time again for another "Shannon's Sentiments" release!!! It's a big reveal this month so we're previewing the sets over 3 days. Today we're featuring "Spring Time" and "Garden Time".  I'm sure it's such a big release because it's my FIRST with Shannon's Sentiments.

Today's preview is also being combing with our weekly challenge. Your hostess this week, Kapree, has challenged us to use 3 brads or eyelets on our cards.

The full sets with a blog hop will be starting at 6am EST on Feb. 15th at the "Shannon's Sentiments" blog. We will also be hosting a chat at our SNR group page at 8pm EST on the 15th as well.

There are unique giveaways this month that I promise you won't want to miss out on!

The first project I have for you is with the Spring Time set... how cute is that little ladybug???!!! Of course all the shimmer doesn't show, but this is one sparkly card!  This card is for this week's challenge to use 3 brad or 3 eyelets.  I hadn't used eyelets in FOREVER, and now I see why... I like the clean lines of the brads so much better, or maybe it's not the equipment; it's the operator???
In any event, focus on the SUPER CUTE lady bug, and everything will be ok.

Stamps: Spring Time by SS
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Real Red
Copics: R46, Black Spica, Lipstick Spica
Paper: Copic X-Press It, Confetti White, Real Red
Accessories: Cranberry Zing Glimmer Mist, Gunmetal Stickles, Enamel Accents, Polka Dot ribbon by TRB
Punches: Scallop Circle, 1 3/8" Circle
Grand Calibur:
None
Challenges Used: Release Peaks

And LOOKIE - I decorated the INSIDE of the card!

For the next project, I used the new Garden Time set.  This little guy is going to be Mother's Day presents for my mom and MIL (yes, there are two).  I just am not sure what is going in the jar yet, some sort of seed/garden thing.  When I saw this stamp, I knew it had to be a tag for a gift jar.  I colored it with E31, E33, and G28, and then added some Spring Flower Soft.  I had to have the fuzziness of Spring with the Flower Soft.  A little bit of TRB ribbon finished it off.

More inspiration from our design team to get your creative juices flowing for this challenge.
