Taylored Expressions Blast From the Past Blog Hop!

WELCOME to Taylored Expressions' Blast from the Past Blog Hop. For this hop, we are to use a set that was made before May 2010. I was SO conflicted between using Let's Do Coffee and Chillax, but in the end, Nancy's Whimsical Whishes Chillax set won. Sankari gave us such a different sketch, but oh so fun!

There were two firsts for me on this card - 1) I made an artists interpretation of the sketch instead of following it to the strict "color by number" style, and 2) I decorated the inside of the card! I mixed a little new with the "old" - I used the August Key Ingredient Kit, which I just love! In any event, enjoy and Welcome to the HOP!!!

Stamp Sets: Chillax by Taylored Expressions
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa
Copics: E37, E57, R59, YG06, YG13, YG23, YR14, YR18
Paper: Baja Breeze, Choice Snow White by Taylored Expressions, the rest of the paper is from the August Key Ingredient by Taylored Expressions (DSP and lime)
Accessories: Stampin' Dimensionals, Gelly Roll Stardust pen, August Key Ingredient letter stickers & Butterflies, The Best Glue Ever (to attach the butterflies), Pink Candy Dots
Punches: Marvy Giga Scalloped Circle, Scalloped Edge
Big Shot:
Scalloped Circle bigz die

Told you I decorated the INSIDE of the card...
Now, go see the rest of the hop...

Sabrina's Birthday Card

My best friend from college has a birthday coming up, and I must share that she is the reason I do NOT drink tequila any more. So what would be more perfect than a margarita card for her birthday? Nothing! I even cut out the shapes... she had better be impressed! :) As a side note - after about 30 You Tube videos and hundreds of tutorials online, I think I might be getting the hang of this Copic color thing. I just need more markers! :)

Swaps are DONE!

Thank you everyone for the feedback on the swap card! Your blog candy packages are in the mail today. I decided to use Joan's suggestion of sponging around the card - thanks, Joan! And Marge's suggestion to stamp the leaf on the paper and cork separately, then just match them up. The swap guidelines say to "use layers", but I think it looks just fine as is, and I know I was intimidated by the 20-lb cards when I first started stamping. Thanks again for the help!!! You gals are the best! And now, without further ado, I give you the Holiday Mini Catalog Swap card....

Stamp Sets: French Foliage, Occasional Quotes
Ink: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Old Olive, Whisper White

And now for something a little different... This past weekend, my neighborhood had its annual block party, for which I am a committee member. Everyone wears name tags because we really just don't know everyone, but every year I make "special" name tags for the committee members. I used the drink from Chillax by Taylored Expressions that best suited the committee member, and of course, mine had the coffee one. They nearly squealed with joy at them. Yeah me! Here is this year's tag...

New Baby

A guy on my team is going to have a new baby girl (well, of course, HE isn't actually having the baby). To get him ready for pink, sparkle, and frilly stuff, I made this card for him. The baby isn't due until the end of the year, but he needs a head start. :) The light pink of the dress is made by using R81 with the colorless blender. I only have a limited Copic supply (until my box gets here), so you do what you gotta, right?

Two More Taylored Projects

My first project was a necessity. My iPad case was just WAY too plain! I love the white on the matte black - it looks like a chalk board.

Stamp Sets: Morning Cup, Let's Do Coffee by Taylored Expressions
Ink: Brilliance Moonlight White

My second project for today is a thank you card for a co-worker of mine, who has helped me through some really trying times at work. On the inside, it says - Yes, this is an IOU! Why is that button in the middle of the sentiment, you ask? Well, it's because I didn't have enough coffee before I started stamping this morning, and there's a rubber imprint there... hope it doesn't look too lame. It's for a guy, so I don't think he'll notice.
Stamp Sets: Chillax by Taylored Expressions
Ink: Marina Mist, Momento Rich Cocoa
Copics: B02, B04, R46, YG13, YG17, W1, W3
Paper: Whisper White Notecard, Real red, Choice Snow White by Taylored Expressions, DSP I picked up at CHA - not sure what it's called or who makes it; it was from a make and take
Accessories: Playground buttons, Gelly Roll stardust pen
Punches: none

Some fun projects

As promised, I will share some projects I have made with my new stuff from CHA. Like I said yesterday, a great deal of my time was spent in the Taylored Expressions booth. If you ever have the chance to meet these ladies, DO IT! They are the sweetest group of folks I have ever met. Since I was completely Copic-challenged. To be honest, I was afraid of them because I *hate* to color. Well, Nancy, Melissa, and Linda changed all that by showing me just how easy it was to get something that looked halfway decent! Yup, now I'm hooked!
My first project was a thank you for the wonderful (and completely talented) Nancy McKinney. This was my FIRST solo Copic attempt... I did ok, I think.

Stamp Sets: Let's Do Coffee by Taylored Expressions
Ink: Momento Rich Cocoa, VersaMagic Wheat chalk ink (sponge the edges of the scalloped circle)
Copics: R81, R83, YG13
Paper: Kraft gift card holder, Gable Green, Choice Snow White by Taylored Expressions
Accessories: Sticky strip, Celery fine cosmo glitter, Pink polka dot ribbon from a Taylored Expressions key ingredient kit, Chipboard stickers from Archiver's $1.99 spot, Pop Dots
Punches: Scalloped Circle, 1 3/8" Circle, Crop-a-Dile (for stay-put bow)
Big Shot: None
Challenges Used: none

The next card was for the fabulous Taylor. She was so excited because she never knew Starbucks had those tiny cards. See - you teach ME something, and I'll teach YOU something. :)

Stamp Sets: Let's Do Coffee by Taylored Expressions
Ink: Momento Rich Cocoa, VersaMagic Wheat chalk ink (sponge the edges of the scalloped circle)

As I mentioned, I was "playing Army" last week. One nice lady brought in a TON of cupcakes and other sweet treats for my unit, all handmade. Of course I had to make her a thank you card with what else - SUPER CUPPIE! Here is my 2nd solo Copic attempt... little better, even though I was working with a VERY short clock! I did my "grounding" shadow backwards, but oh well, it's good enough for government work. :)

CHA was a BLAST!

Hi everyone! Sorry I have been MIA for a bit... I actually was on military duty - Annual Training for my reserve unit, and my parents were in town.
This year, I went to CHA for the very first time. OMG I had SUCH a blast at CHA!!!! Not to say that I wasn't completely exhausted, but it was SO much fun! Here are a few pictures of the Taylored Expressions booth, where I spent quite a bit of time (and money!). That little Cuppie sure is cute, and man were the make and takes TOO cute! The upper left photo is of Alex and Melissa, the two main enablers who taught me how to use Copic markers (damn them!!!!), as well as helped me pick out my very first Cuppie set, as well as a few more...
The picture in the upper right is of Nancy McKinney, me, and Taylor stuck her head in too over the top. How fun is that pic?! Nancy is the designer of the Whimsical Wishes line, which are just AWESOME! On her blog, you can see all the sets she designed, and I have to say, my favorite is Chillax, which I bought, of course. :) She showed me some more Copic techniques. OMG I'm hooked on these markers... I have actually colored some stuff.
The last photo on the bottom left is of Nancy, Taylor, and Taylor's mom Linda working hard. You can see Jon, Taylor's husband a touch in the background - he was the cashier for the whole weekend.
I have been stamping a bit this past week with my new stuff, so I'll post those tonight or tomorrow morning. I also get a Stampin' Up! box tonight with some Holiday Mini goodies, so I'm guessing, the pics will wait for the am. I'm off to put together my new Papertrey Ink sets before going to work...
