Cards for Christmas

Here are a set of cards I made for my MIL for Christmas.  I tried to keep them simple, so they would be easy to mail.  The colors are pink and brown; yes, the damask is also brown, but looks black in the light.  Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of the envelope, but sadly, they are on their way to NYC.  I used my Letterpress for these, and I really like how they turned out.  I need to be more patient on the drying time, tho.  I'm giving my mom 10 blank cards that she can design herself however she would like.
I'm off to work for three days, then off for the rest of the year!  This past weekend I completely re-arranged my stamp room, so there probably won't be anything coming out of there until the new year. I'm really happy with the new layout, and "found" some things I had forgotten about.

If I don't type before then, have a wonderful holiday!!!!

Christmas Gift Card Tags

Hi there!  I apologize for the sporadic postings, but I'm trying to get everything done before the holidays... I will be back to normal (well, as normal as I get) after the new year.  I'm happy to report that all cards and packages are mailed, and the rest of the presents are wrapped and under the tree.  I always give Starbucks and iTunes gift cards to friends and family.  This year, Starbucks had a cup wrap that had a little pocket in it.  Their mini gift cards fit perfectly in there, but, you couldn't see them.  What to do... of course I will make a little tag for them.  Since I'm getting the Martha Stewart score board for Christmas, I used that to make some rosettes (before I wrapped it :) ).  I kept the design very simple, since it was really a "find the card" item.  I have another project that's almost done that I did with the score board too... hopefully, I will finish it before Christmas to share with you.

Yes, I'm Here!

So, things have been CRAZY busy around here!  But, I have been doing a bit of stamping, nothing really new, but some serious volume.  First of all, I finished my Christmas cards for this year... here's a photo of the 40 that I made to send out.  They are *almost* all in their envelopes, just need those pesky stamps (not the rubber kind, either).  I had 8 more cards to go and ran out of my DSP, so there are a few with a different paper, still look ok, I guess.

Welcome Back in Time

Today is another installment of Taylored Expressions' Blast From the Past Blog Hop.  This month's theme is autumn/thankful.  For me, I am thankful for my stamping friend, Kate, who continues to fight against the hundreds of medical problems that keep getting thrown her way.  This card will be in the mail to her tomorrow.  I'm trying to send one card every Friday to her to lift her spirits, and what is more uplifting that adorable little Cuppie?!  Some of you have emailed me for her address to send cards of your own, and that is absolutely wonderful - I am SO thankful for our stamping community, also!  We really care about "our own".  If you would like to send a card to Kate (her birthday is 11/30 too), please email me at  Kate's favorite stamping color combo is pink and brown, so I've been trying to use that on every card.  When we would meet to stamp, we would always have Starbucks in hand, as we both NEED coffee.  Now before I make myself cry thinking about how much I miss my friend and cannot be there for her in person right now, let me get back to the hop... your next stop on the hop is Charmaine's Oodabug Alley.  I'm sure Charmwarm will have something awesome for you today!

Sunday was my little cousin's birthday... oops! :(  I did talk with her on the phone, so hopefully, I'm not completely in the dog house.  I used Karen's Sweet Sunday sketch for this week for this card.  This was the first time I got to ink up my duckies... they are SO cute!

VSN - Part 2

I was up crazy early this morning, so what does that mean??? STAMPING TIME!  I got to finish all of Friday's challenges, plus make a few more of one the thank you card.  I'm off to finish the set for my work colleagues, but thought I would share what I had thus far... enjoy!  This morning, I'm off to THREE craft fairs/holiday bazaars - OH WHAT FUN!

This first card is for my friend, Kate, for her birthday on November 30.  For those of you who missed yesterday's post, my friend is having some serious health issues.  Kate's medical issues make mine look like the sniffles - she has been hospitalized for a good chunk of the past few months.  Some of you have asked for Kate's address to send a card - please email me @, and I'm happy to provide it to you.  Just so you know, Kate loves cats and coffee, and her favorite stamping color combo is pink and brown.  I used the Skipping Stones sketch for this week for this card for Kate.

Stamp Sets: Birthday Bakery
Ink: Momento Rich Cocoa, Brilliance Moonlight & Platinum (chalked the edges of the white circle)
Copics: RV00, RV11, RV19, Clear Spica
Paper: Early Espresso, Rich Razzleberry, Pretty in Pink DSP Choice Snow White by Taylored Expressions
Accessories: Taylor's Tiny Twinkles, Maya Road (yummy) chocolate ribbon, Silver Gelly Roll pen (drawn around the white circle for my silver lining)
Punches: 1 3/4" circle, Corner Chomper
Big Shot:
Circle nesties
Challenges Used: NOV10VSND, SSD50

The next card is going to be for my co-workers for Christmas this year.  So simple, but so cute (IMO)!
Stamp Sets: Season Sweetings by Taylored Expressions
Ink: Basic Grey, Momento Tuxedo Black
Copics: G28, G85, R46, R81, R83, Clear Spica
Paper: Real Red, Choice Snow White by Taylored Expressions, Me & My Big Ideas DSP pack (from like 2 years ago)
Accessories: Basic Grey satin ribbon, Silver Smooch Spritz
Punches: 1 3/4" circle, Crop-a-Dile (for stay-put bow)
Big Shot:
Challenges Used: NOV10VSNE
Size: 3.5" x 3.5"

The last card for this morning is a set of thank you cards for Christmas.  I always like to keep this simple but a little special, since they are handmade, of course.  The DSP is flocked, which looks WAY cooler in person, and the brad is a glimmer brad.  The edges are chalked with VersaMagic. Simple, and the set of 11 (prototype + set of 10 :) ) barely took me over the 45 minute time limit for VSN.
Stamp Sets: Communique Curves Sentiments by PapertreyInk

VSN - Part 1

Tonight begins VSN, and I'm so excited!  The first card that decided to show up is for the Silver Lining challenge to make an inspiring card with silver.  I tried to make a silver ring around the ribbon, but the pink ink just made the silver look lighter pink, but it shimmers, and I like the way it looked anyway.  Wasn't quite what I was going for, but kept it!  I outlined the ribbon in silver Gelly Roll pen too.  I decided to keep it simple and let the ribbon speak for itself.
Stamp Sets: Ribbon of Hope
Ink: Regal Rose, VersaMagic Platinum
Copics: None
Paper: Marina Mist textured, Confetti Cream
Accessories: Pink and Clear gems, Silver Gelly Roll pen
Punches: None
Big Shot:
Challenges Used: NOV10VSNC

This next little cutie was for The Look & Feel of Clouds challenge to use cotton of some kind. The challenge talked about comfy and cozy, and to me, NOTHING is more comfy than my flannel pajamas, so I used flannel; I'm sure there's some cotton in there somewhere.  I used the scalloped oval punch to simulate my cloud.  I used Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch for this card.
Stamp Sets: Season's Sweetings by Taylored Expressions
Ink: Old Olive, Momento Tuxedo Black
Copics: B34, B97, E25, E29, G82, R46, R83, R85
Paper: Marina Mist textured, Old Olive, Real Red, Choice Buttercream by Taylored Expressions
Accessories: Marina Mist striped grosgrain, Jewels, Silver Gelly Roll pen, Red baker's twine from Make a Wish Pantry Project Kit by Taylored Expressions, Tiny buttons
Punches: Corner Chomper
Big Shot:
Scalloped Square bigz
Challenges Used: NOV10VSNB, SSSC92

The last card I have for now was for the Happy Christmas challenge to make a Christmas card without red or green.  I used the Create with Connie and Mary color challenge for this set of twins (I needed 2 for Hanukkah cards).

Stamp Sets: To You & Yours
Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black
Copics: None
Paper: Basic Black, Christmas Cocoa DSP
Accessories: Jewels Pearls (LOTS of these), Very Vanilla satin ribbon
Punches: Crop-a-Dile for the stay-put bow
Big Shot:
Challenges Used: NOV10VSNA, CCMC124

This is all my back can take after a long day of work... hope to have more time to stamp this weekend.

Get Well Sketch

My good friend, Kate, have been having MAJOR health problems, and I wanted to make a cheery note to let her know I was thinking of her.  Kate and I met through Splitcoaststampers a couple of years ago and instantly hit it off.  She lives just outside of Travis Air Force Base where I would have to go sometimes for military "stuff".  We would meet and stamp together, and always get Starbucks.  I miss my friend, but more so, I anguish over what she is going through, which I cannot begin to understand!  If you happen by a few minutes in your day today, could you drop Kate a note of encouragement on her blog?  I know her mom will pass on the kind words to brighten her day.

Winning News

I don't have a card today (sorry), because I am resting up for this weekend's Virtual Stamp Night at SCS.  Well, not really, but it sounded good.  I do have some NEWS, though...  I have been a winning machine! Time to play the lottery!!!
Every month, I've been participating in Taylored Expression's blast from the past blog hop, and there is always the chance that one hopper will win the stamp set of their choice from TE.  Well, last month - I WON!!!!!!  I selected the Enjoy! set, which will be arriving with my Key Ingredient Kit for November.  I am a HUGE fan of the Starbucks and iTunes gift cards for gifts, so this set will assist me nicely in this holiday season. :)
The second item I won was Amy's grab bag on Ginger Scraps - for some reason, I cannot type that properly, I always call it Ginger Snaps.  Which reminds me I need to finish those downloads, so I can play, play, play.
The last item I won was for the Hope You Can Cling To challenges on SCS.  I won a $50 gift card to Crafty Secrets.  I'm not familiar with Craft Secrets, but as I said in the post, I'm going to be $50 worth of acquainted with them soon!
One more announcement... The first ever class of Digital Design from Jessica Sprague is having a blog hop that starts tomorrow where you can download some awesome designs.  Hop starts on Lisa Williams' blog.
I think I will get a lottery ticket on the way to work today... I've got some SERIOUS winningness (ok, I made that word up but I like it) going on!
I will have a card for the Taylored Expressions sketch because that one is super cute!  Have a great week, and remember - if you like the way you live your life in freedom, THANK A VETERAN!

Fall Congrats

The card I have to show today is a congratulations card for a co-worker who just got a promotion.  I used the ColorQ challenge for this week, along with the Skipping Stones Design sketch challenge.  There's a HUGE sale there this week - spend $33 and get 33% off!  I'm so impatiently waiting Funny Coffee to return... oh how sad am I that I missed that?!  BRING BACK Funny Coffee!!!!  Ok, ok, back to the card... For the vanilla panel, I used the kissing technique and then dry embossed with a texture plate, which is a little hard to see below.  This is the closest I've come to Stampin' Up! only card in a long, long time... Enjoy!

Oh yes, I did it! All 32 challenges complete!  If you're looking for # 30, scroll down - this is my 2nd post of the morning.  This last challenge was pretty cool.  We were supposed to use an Etsy Treasury List as inspiration to design the card.  HERE is the list I chose.  How did I find it? Well, I searched for "latte", of course, and how could I not use a list called "Everyone is invited to Sunday Brunch"?!  The first thing that jumped out at me from this list was texture - lots and lots of texture.  The second thing was hearts, and lastly - simplicity.  Since I think I only own 2 hearts stamps, I decided to use the warm earth colors fpr the sunflower and use the heart as an accent.  Enjoy!
Stamp Sets: Punch Potpourri, Moments in Bloom by Unity Stamps

Sketching for Hope

I am down to the final stretch of Hope You Can Cling To cards... I have one to show you, and then I only have ONE more!  WOO HOO!!!!  We were given a sketch for this card, which I really liked - think I'll be saving this one for future use.  It's a little hard to see on the card, but I colored the stamp, then spritzed with water, and stamped on watercolor paper.  I think the rest you can figure out...

Happy Halloween

Yesterday, the pups went to trick or treat.  Oh yes, both of my dog need therapy!  Gandy was Yoda, and Latte was a banana split.  Tonight, the kids come trick or treating, so Latte the banana split will be ready to greet them!  No tricks today, though, I have some MORE cards, only TWO more to complete ALL the challenges for Hope You Can Cling To...
The first card was to use a girl or woman stamp and *some* pink.  I hadn't used the Teena from Pet's Place, so what a perfect time to do that! Just about everything from this card is from the Pet's Place Project Pantry Kit.  Today is the LAST day these two items are on sale... GRAB THEM!  Apparently, the Sankari spirit is still with me... look at those pearls!  This card was made with the Sweet Sunday Sketch for this week.  Click on the picture to make it bigger, so you can see the stripes on my tiger cat... look at me go!!!!
Stamp Sets: Pet's Place by Taylored Expressions
Ink: Momento Rich Cocoa
Copics: B93, B97, BG72, E25, E33, E50, E51, E53, E57, N0, R01, R85, YR18, Sand Spica
Paper: ALL from the Pet's Place Pantry Project Kit by Taylored Expressions
Accessories: Marina Mist 1 1/4" striped grosgrain, Adirondack Espresso Pearls
Punches: None
Big Shot:
Petite Small Ovals
Challenges Used: HYCCT24, SSSC91

This next card is parting with one of my MOST cherished possessions!  When I was stalking the Taylored Expressions booth at CHA, THE Nancy McKinney taught me how to do some techniques with Copics (one of them would be coloring - yup, was Copic Virgin until CHA!).  She made this little clown to show me how to make patterns with the 0 colorless blender.  I have been hoarding this little clown, but I decided to donate it to a GREAT cause.  On to Texas you go, little clown!  The edge of the die cut is inked with Brilliance Moonlight ink for some shimmer, that, of course, doesn't show in the pic.
Stamp Sets: Trick or Sweet II by Taylored Expressions
Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black, Brilliance Moonlight (chalked the edges of the die cut)
Copics: Not sure which colors she used, sorry :(
Paper: ALL from Make a Wish Pantry Project Kit by Taylored Expressions
Accessories: Ribbon & "Cherry" from Make a Wish Pantry Project Kit, Buttons from Pet's Place Pantry Project Kit
Punches: None
Big Shot:
Take Note Die 2 from Taylored Expressions
Challenges Used: HYCCT25

The last card for today was to create an invitation for time with girl friends.  DUH - I always meet for coffee.  I need a little help with this card... the beans and the cup with steam are from a set that I "found" in my stash and haven't the first clue who makes it or what it's called.  It's a clear set with 3 cups, a Starbucks hot cup, and a few sentiments like - we're the perfect blend and you're tea-riffic.  If you have any thoughts, I'd like to give credit, so drop me a line - THANKS!  This layout is from the Clean & Simple sketch for this week.
Stamp Sets: Let's Do Coffee by Taylored Expressions & Some other unknown coffee set
Ink: Momento Rich Cocoa

Paper: Confetti Cream
Accessories: Lots of Stampin' Write Marker, Lime Green & Starry Night Stickles, Adirondack Espresso Pearls, Gelly Roll Stardust pen
Punches: None

Well, that's all for today... just 2 more to go to complete the month-long challenge.  YEAH!!!!

Warning - LONG post

Michelle has been stamping!!!! What can I say?! I've been a busy bee this morning.  Sleep might have been preferred, but I think the creations turned out ok... you can probably tell the ones I did BEFORE I went to Starbucks.  The cards are posted in order of the HYCCT challenges, not in the order of their creation.  In any event, enjoy!

The first card for today was to make hand-made embellishments.  Not so sure I did all that swell on this... I made the felt flower, but the rest, not so much.

Stamp Sets: Make a Wish by Taylored Expressions
Ink: Cherry Cobbler
Copics: None
Paper: River Rock, Make a Wish Pantry Project Kit by Taylored Expressions
Accessories: Jumbo Button (from Holiday Mini Catalog - can't remember name), Baker's Twine, Felt, Tiny Twinkles from Taylored Expressions (on sale until tomorrow! don't forget the Embellie Gellie!)
Punches: None
Big Shot:
Spellbinders Flower
Challenges Used: HYCCT21

For the next card, I was supposed to use 3 DSP, 2 embellishments, and 1 ribbon.  I used the sketch by Karen Giron for the Skipping Stones Sketch Challenge.  You'll notice there are 3 embellishments - you can't really see the doily transparency in the back, so I added some pearls for good measure.  The challenge didn't say ONLY 2 embellishments.
Stamp Sets: Moments in Bloom by Unity Stamps
Ink: None (used markers)
Copics: Sand Spica
Paper: Confetti Cream, Elegant Eggplant, rest from September Key Ingredient Kit by Taylored Expressions
Accessories: Jewels Pearls; Ribbon, Doily, and Brad from the September Key Ingredient Kit, Elegant Eggplant & Old Olive Stampin' Write Markers.
Punches: 1 1/4" Square
Big Shot:
Challenges Used: HYCCT22, SSD48
Size: 5.25 x 5.25

I decided to go simple on this next card to really feature the bird because Cancer truly IS for the birds!
Stamp Sets: Punch Potpourri, Moments in Bloom by Unity Stamps, Everyday Sentiments by Hero Arts
Ink: Crumb Cake, Pacific Point, Regal Rose
Copics: None
Paper: Baja Breeze, Confetti White, Wild Wasabi Textured
Accessories: Clear Stardust Gelly Roll pen
Punches: Bird
Big Shot:
Challenges Used: HYCCT26

This next card is for the Gettin' Glimmermisted Wit It challenge where you should use spray ink that's sparkly.  I still have no Glimmer Mist... I know, I know, what's wrong with me?! So I used my trusty Smooch Spritz.  I may have to break down and get some Glimmer Mist... maybe a blue... ok, I digress.  The sketch for this card is based on Taylored Expressions sketch for this week.  Just about all of what you see from the Pet's Place Project Pantry Kit - of course I have that, but it's ON SALE until tomorrow, so grab it!  One thing you can't see in the photo - the pearls in the scallops I made to look like little Hershey's kisses... time to dig into the Halloween candy!
Stamp Sets: None, Nada, Nope, not a one!
Ink: Zip here too
Copics: None
Paper: Confetti White, Pet's Place Pantry Project Kit by Taylored Expressions
Accessories:Adirondack Espresso Pearls, Ribbon & Sticker from Pet's Place Pantry Kit, Latte Smooch Spritz, Elegant Trio flower stencil
Punches: None
Big Shot:
Scalloped Eyelet border die by Taylored Expressions (also on sale!)
Challenges Used: HYCCT27, TESC132

The last card for today was to have your only stamped image be a sentiment.... ok, I admit it, this one was pre-Starbucks.  There is seriously a LOT going on with this card - HOLY "STUFF", Batman!  I think my body was taken over by Sankari, because this card is VERY sparkly!!! Since my stamp room was not equipped with Pearls, she had to use Twinkles instead.  In any event, I like this card, except I should have made the blue piece on top smaller - I was going for a cake-looking thing with stacked square panels... maybe the corner chomper, too... oh well, next card!

Stamp Sets: Make a Wish by Taylored Expressions
Ink: Momento Rich Cocoa
Copics: Clear Spica, BG09, R83, R85, Y15, YR16
Paper: Always Artichoke, Pretty in Pink, Rich Razzleberry (with Ice Smooch Spritz), Sweet Pea DSP, Make a Wish Pantry Project DSP & August Key Ingredient DSP by Taylored Expressions
Accessories: Neutrals button, Pink Rhinestone brad, Ice Smooch Spritz (a LOT of this!), Taylor's Tiny Twinkles
Punches: None

CPS Sketch + Stitching

Today's card is for the CPS Sketch Challenge.  I've been wanting to play along with their challenges, but for some reason, it just never happened.  This week's prize is from Taylored Expressions.  Of course I had to play along!!!  This sketch was really hard for me for some reason... I think I'm having a mojo lapse. :(  It's probably because I really haven't been feeling well.  I got my pneumonia shot, so that shouldn't be it... fingers crossed it's not pleurisy again! :(  Ok, ok, enough of that... on to the card!  For this card, I used HYCCT23, as well.  I have the mini sewing machine on my Christmas/Birthday list, so until then, it will only be faux stitching for me.  It's hard to see in the photo, but I outlined the clouds with a Spica pen, and the leaves on the trees have a little red in them, too, from thumping with a marker.
Stamp Sets: Trendy Trees
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie
Copics: Clear Spica
Paper: Summer Sun, Taken with Teal, Whisper White, Welcome Home DSP
Accessories: Real Red and Basic Black Stampin' Write Markers, Mini Library Clips

Vintage Pink for Hope

If you're looking for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop, scroll down.  These two cards are for two more challenges for hope.  The first was for Vintage Style, and oh how I struggle with vintage.  I LOVE the look of it, but I just can't seem to do it right.  Then I saw Deb's Card, and I was like - I can do that!  I tried, anyway.  Hope it's ok.  It's hard to tell from the picture, but the white on the bottom DSP is fuzzy.  I "distressed" both DSP panels with Distress Ink - my first time actually using them.  They go on so smooth.
Stamp Sets: Tiny Tags
Ink: Early Espresso, Antique Linen Distress Ink (distress the DSP), Wheat VersaMagic (distress the green panel)
Copics: None
Paper: Soft Suede, Pear Pizazz, Christmas Cocoa DSP (I think that's the name)
Accessories: Latte Smooch Spritz, Sleigh Bells ribbon, Gold cord
Punches: Jewelry Tag, Crop-a-Dile, Corner Chomper, Scalloped Eyelet border by Taylored Expressions (on sale now!)
Big Shot:
Challenges Used: HYCCT18

This next card was a little easier, but still tough for some reason.  For this challenge, we were supposed to use pink to describe a childhood memory.  I was more of a purple and green kid, but I did have this ONE doll that was pink, so here she is!  I also used Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch. I think I should have made the girl panel a little smaller... oh well, for next time...
Stamp Sets: Clara (my name for Girl with Hearts) by Hero Arts
Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black
Copics: Sand Spica, E25, E33, E50, E51, R01, RV00, RV11, RV19, Clear Spica

Papertrey October Blog Hop Challenge

Today, I decided to play along with the Papertrey Blog Hop.  I don't have enough Papertrey stuff (yet) to be able to make an entire card with Papertrey stuff, but I'm getting there!  The challenge was to do a card for a different winter holiday.  Well, I didn't have those stamps, so I decided to make a hot coffee/tea card, which is ALWAYS something I like in the winter.  This particular card is for the Sketch with a Twist challenge for hope, but a duplicate will be going to my Aunt.  The twist for the card was that it had to be dance-themed, well, once again, no dance stuff here (TRUST ME on that!).  But, I cannot even walk, let alone dance without my coffee, so this is the pre-dance warm up cup!  Ok, now back to my aunt... her birthday is December 26, so I decided to make her a birthday card that, in no way, looked like a Christmas card.  I think she'll appreciate that, so that is my winter holiday!

Hoping for a Cure

Here are two more cards for the Hope You Can Cling To challenges going on at SCS.  For the first challenge, we were supposed to use felt on the card, which I did for the first time just a few weeks ago (for a card for these challenges, as a matter of fact).  I tried to cut the grass out of felt, but the die just wouldn't do it.  I'll have to keep playing with it.  I spritzed the flowers with Smooch, but you really can't tell in the photo.
Stamp Sets: Punched Poises
Ink: Glorious Green
Copics: None
Paper: River Rock, Wild Wasabi
Accessories: Felt, Hot Pink gems (not sure where they came from), Ice Smooch Spritz
Punches: None
Big Shot:
Grass by My Favorite Things, Old Flowers Dies by Spellbinders
Challenges Used: HYCCT16

The next card challenge was to pop out the focal image.  Well, duh, I do that on like every card, so this was easy peasy.  I wanted the Stickles and Pearls to show on this card, so I kept the Copic coloring very minimal.

Stamp Sets: Make a Wish by Taylored Expressions
Ink: Momento Rich Cocoa
Copics: R46, R83, Y17, YG13
Paper: All from Make a Wish Pantry Project Kit by Taylored Expressions, except the scallop - that is from Me & My Big Ideas paper stack
Accessories: Cotton Candy & Lime Green Stickles; Taylor's Tiny Twinkles (on sale now! don't forget the Embellie Gellie to put them on), Adirondack Espresso Liquid Pearls (part of the Make a Wish Pantry Project Kit too!), Maya Road brown ribbon
Punches: Corner Chomper
Big Shot:
Scalloped Eyelet Border by Taylored Expressions (also on sale now!)
Challenges Used: HYCCT17

The next challenge is vintage... yikes!  Wish me luck!!!!
