I'm on a ROLL today!

Still at it! These are the last 3 I'm going to do for a bit... I'm getting tired and need to rest a bit.
The next one I did was for the 6th challenge, where we were to use the split negative technique. I'd done this technique a while back when it was a try a new technique challenge, but not since... and why not?!?! This card is my favorite I've created for VSN thus far. I really like how this one turned out.
Stamp Set: In the Stars
Ink: VersaMark, Encore Silver
Paper: Basic Black, Real Red, Silver (not sure who made it... it was FITSR - found in the stamp room)
Accessories: Real Red striped grosgrain, Silver embossing powder, Black embossing powder, Stampin' Dimensionals
Technique: Split Negative

The next card was for the 11th challenge, where we had to use a long lost stamp in our collection. I chose Bugs & Kisses. I think I used the ant in that set, and nothing else ever. It's hard to see, but I put Crystal Effects on the dragonfly's wings to look like stained glass.
Stamp Set: Bugs & Kisses
Ink: Basic Black, Jet Black StazOn
Paper: Regal Rose, Whisper White, Perfect Plum, Pink Flamingo DSP
Accessories: So Saffron 7/8" twill, Certainly Celery 5/8" twill (SAB ribbon bundle), Light Blue gingham, Clips Assortment (library clip), Pop Dots
Punch: Tag

The last card for a bit is for the 12th challenge, where we were to use Inchies. I think I did this right... hope so!
Stamp Sets: Nursery Necessities, A Little Love, Congrats (SAB set)
Ink: Certainly Celery, Summer Sun, Lovely Lilac
Paper: Blush Blossom, Pale Plum, Certainly Celery, Lovely Lilac, Very Vanilla, Pink Flamingo DSP
Punches: 3/4" Circle, 1" Circle, 1 1/4" Circle
I'm off to grab some popcorn, then work on putting together the bar stools for the basement. Oh yeah, dinner should happen some time in there, too.

I'm at it AGAIN!

Two more VSN Challenges for you... I'm steady plugging away at these...
The first one is challenge # 7, and this one is a little special to me. The challenge was to base your card off a quote from the movie The Princess Bride. That part isn't so "wow", BUT I was yahoo messenger'ing (yes, that IS a verb now!) with my husband about the challenges for this year's VSN. I was whining a touch about this one... I was like - huh?!?! HE gave me the idea for this card! He said - use the quote "Never get involved in a land war in Asia", and then you can use your military set and new ribbon cutting thingie. I was like - OMG!!! He listened when I said I got this special edition die set from Sizzix, and he knew I love my Godspeed stamp set. OMG!!! Well, this is what I came up with after I was done being completely shocked:Stamp Sets: Godspeed, Sweet Little Sentiments (hostess set)
Ink: Old Olive, Basic Gray
Paper: Old Olive, Summer Sun, Very Vanilla
Accessories: gold eyelets, gold elastic cord, black brad, sanding block, Brilliant Blue & Real Red Stampin' Write markers (for flag)
Big Shot: Ribbon die & Hope texturizing plate (breast cancer fund raiser set)
This was the first time I had used the texture plates... it was SUPER simple... even easier than cutting! BTW - this fund raiser set also comes with a sizzlet ribbon, and an embossing plate ribbon. I bought them at Archiver's the day I ordered my Big Shot, and I haven't seen them anywhere else since. SO glad I caught those!

The next one is challenge # 8, which was to make a card based on your obsession. Most of the cards already in the gallery are about shopping, shoes, coffee, etc... and while all of those will fit me, my TRUE obsession is football, and ESPECIALLY Notre Dame football. While my card doesn't exactly fit in with the rest of the gallery, I've never really been accused of running with the crowd on things. Stamp Sets: Just Football, Sanded BG
Ink: Close to Cocoa, VersaMark
Paper: Creamy Caramel, Very Vanilla, Brilliant Blue
Accessories: Gold embossing powder, Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write marker (for "stitching"), Cutter Kit, Cutterbee double piercing bug (not really sure what this thing is called, but HERE is a photo)
Punch: Scallop Circle
Making gold helmets is the ONLY reason I even bought gold embossing powder... there, I said it! I'm obsessed with ND Football!

Again with the VSN Challenges

I continue on with the VSN challenges today... my flu is about gone, just a headache remains - YEAH!!! I knocked out two more before I have to run some errands today. I have to go get the furry creatures some food, and I need to check out a fridge for the basement bar. My parents are coming next weekend, so my dad will help me carry it downstairs... I just need to pick it out before hand. Anyway, to the stamping...
The 3rd VSN challenge, as I eluded to last night, was to use a stamp set that you don't really like, or bought and never really used. I had a set that fit both bills - Brocade Basics had never seen ink, and Tagger's Dozen has rarely seen ink since their entry in my house. I also haven't used my small tag punch, slot punch, real red embossing powder, In Color CS, or my Riding Hood Red tafetta ribbon, so they seemed like they should be included too. I had a slight mishap with the embossing powder, but I think the card still turned out ok.
Stamp Sets: Brocade Basics, Tagger's Dozen
Ink: VersaMark
Paper: Basic Black, Tangerine Tango, Pacific Point
Accessories: Iridescent Ice, Real Red, & White embossing powder, Riding Hood Red tafetta ribbon
Punches: Crop-a-Dile (to make stay put bow), Small Tag, Tag

The next card was for the 5th challenge, which was to make a monochomatic card. Since this VSN is all about love, I HAD to use blue for my one color. When I started looking, I couldn't believe just how many things I had in blue. Holy cow! I guess I really DO love blue... I had to cut some colors to make a card under 10-lbs. The sketch for this card was Sketch Challenge # 209 btw... I really like that one!
Stamp Sets: Simple Friendship, Thoughts & Prayers (both new!!!)
Ink: Brilliant Blue, Night of Navy, VersaMark
Paper: Brocade Blue, Night of Navy, Baja Breeze, Whisper White (butterfly stamped on there) Not Quite Navy Prints DSP
Accessories: Bashful Blue striped grosgrain, Stampin' Dimensionals
Punch: Crop-a-Dile (for stay put bow)
And, I even used a Butterfly, which starts with B... well, gotta get the creatures food... more later....

Two More VSN Challenges

As promised, here are a couple more cards for VSN challenges. (And yes, the pool table and bar are set up and ready to go!)
The first one is the 2nd challenge posted, which asks what kind of chocolate you are. I'm Dark Chocolate, and that dictated my color scheme: Chocolate Chip, Apricot Appeal, and Cameo Coral. I kept this simple, as it will be in the mail on Monday to my husband, who is deployed for the Army. We both LOVE coffee.

Stamp Sets: What's Brewin' (oldie but greatie!), Yummy (new SAB set)
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Paper: Cameo Coral, Chocolate Chip, Apricot Appeal, Very Vanilla, Apricot Appeal Prints DSP
Accessories: Crystal Effects, Chocolate Chip Satin ribbon, Cameo Coral Stampin' Write marker
I don't know if you can see it, but there are little drops of crystal effects on the top left above the ribbon, and the bottom right. I also added it to the inside of the cup to look like coffee... now I want some coffee!
The next card is the for the 4th challenge that was posted. This challenge told you to use NEW STUFF... uh, hello! I just got an order like a few days ago! Of course I had to skip the use a stamp set you don't really like challenge to use NEW STUFF!!!!!Stamp Sets: Simple Friendship, Sweet Little Sentiments (hostess set)
Ink: Basic Gray, VersaMark
Paper: So Saffron (base), Ballet Blue (flower), Pink Flamingo DSP, Garden Green Prints DSP
Accessories: Filigree brad, Stampin' Dimensionals, Gelly Roll Silver pen, Gelly Roll Stardust pen
Punch: 5-Petal Flower
Big Shot: Simple Flower Embosslit die
The only products that I had used before this challenge were the solid cardstock, ink, and 5-Petal Flower punch. I'd used the Gelly Roll pens before, but not THOSE pens... they were brand new. That was SO much fun! But, it was SO HARD to choose which products to use... good thing there are a TON more challenges to use them in. :)
Well, I'm off to lie down some more... more stamping to come tomorrow (doubt I'm going to have the energy to do more tonight)... I have to crank out 16 more challenges. This bug is NOT nice!

VSN Challenge 1

So, last night started VSN. This was the ONLY card I made before I got sick. There is this 36-hour nonsense that is going around. I got it. :( I think I am over the worst of it, but I still feel pretty crappy. Ok, enough about that... on to the stampin!
The first VSN challenge was to make a card using a simple layout: It has the folded card which is the standard size 4 1/4 x 5 1/2, a mounted piece of paper which is 4 x 5 1/4, one big circle and one big heart.
I, of course, had to use what I had, and that involved the BIG SHOT! YEAH!!!!
Stamp Set: Always (sentiment)
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Paper: So Saffron (base), SAB DSP Delicate Dots
Accessories: On Board Chipboard Heart, Kraft Corduroy button, So Saffron 5/8" grosgrain (SAB), Light Blue gingham, Decor Elements (circle and flower), Light Blue Chunky Sprinkles, Tombo Mono Multi
Big Shot: Scallop Circle Die
I used the Tombo Mono Multi to adhere the chunky glitter and the corduroy button to the paper. The scallop circle die cut is just 1/4" too big for a standard size card... I kind-of like it, even though it was bugging me BIG TIME at first... it's growing on me.
Well, I'm off to lie down a bit before the pool table and bar are delivered... more stamping to come!

Catching Up!

So, I'm still trying to get caught up from Josh being home for the weekend. We were BUSY with a TON of household things. So, no stamping yet... I do have two pretty cute pics to share, IMO. These were taken the morning Josh got home. The pups were a little excited to see him. Gandy (the shepherd) was like - DADDY!!!!!!! Latte (the pug) was a little hesitant at first, and we figured out that was because of his hat. When Josh put the hat on later in the weekend, Latte started barking at him again. Well, she doesn't really bark; she makes more of a "burf" sound. It's pretty darn funny any way you slice it, though. 15-lbs of pure toughness!
Speaking of pounds, two weeks ago now, I started a weight loss challenge at work. Last week I lost 3 lbs just by getting rid of the CRAPPY food in my diet, like no more McDonald's chicken biscuits in the morning for breakfast. Yeah, just that was 3 lbs... holy cow! I have weigh-in every Wednesday morning, so wish me luck for more weight loss this week! I did add a touch of exercise, but I am SO out of shape. Speaking of work, I'd better go... In the meantime, get your stuff ready for VSN - it's THIS WEEKEND! The pool table and bar are getting delivered on Saturday (yes, that would be a by-produce of Josh coming home this weekend), but other than that, I am STAMPING! Don't forget to leave a comment to be entered for BLOG CANDY in yesterday's post...

45,000 Hits - Happy Valentine's Day to ME!!!

HOLY COW!!!!! 45,000 HITS!!!!!!! Yesterday, I was UNBELIEVABLY surprised to see the hit counter bounce over 45K! So, OF COURSE, I need to dig up some BLOG CANDY for someone! I am cleaning out my stamp room, so I have TONS upon TONS of stuff to give! Share what you did for Valentine's Day that made this day memorable to you. For me, it was FABULOUS! I got to spend it with my husband, who was home from deployment for the weekend. We ordered Chinese food and watched the movie Vantage Point on Netflix. Yup, that was it! And it was GREAT!!! So, here are a few Valentine's Day cards to continue the weekend...

Stamp Sets: Love Owl-ways, Best Yet
Ink: Basic Gray
Paper: Lavender Lace, Pretty in Pink Prints DSP, Sale-a-Bration DSP, Watercolor
Accessories: Watercolor Wonder Crayons (Close to Cocoa, Regal Rose)
Punches: 1 3/4" Circle, Full Heart
Card Size: 3 x 3
These little guys were SUPER simple... I made them for my team at work. They turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself!
The next card was for my sweeties for Valentine's Day. For those of you who don't know... I'm a Cleveland Browns' fan, and he is a Pittsburgh Steelers' fan. Yeah, we don't speak twice a year. And yes, I will hear the gloating on the Super Bowl win for the next year, at least.

Stamp Sets: Just Football, Rough Edges Alphabet
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Real Red, VersaMark
Paper: Kraft, Whisper White, Real Red Prints DSP, Sale-a-Bration DSP
Accessories: Black embossing powder, Gold elastic cord
Punches: Full Heart, 3/4" Circle
Sizzix: Oval Scallop Frame Bigz die, Lots of Tags Label 1 Sizzlet
I printed the Steelers' seal on the computer and punched it out with the 3/4" Circle punch. This card was SUPER easy to make, but oh so appropriate for the two of us. My husband laughed hysterically, and then oooohed and aaaahhed at the autographed Steelers mini helmet that he got with it.
Well, we are off to spend some more time together before he leaves again tomorrow... until then, post your Valentine's Day adventures, and I will randomly draw Saturday (2/21/09) for the winner.

Limited Supplies Technique

Look at me go combining two challenges yet again! Today's card uses Friday's Limited Supplies Challenge to use only a sentiment stamp, and yesterday's Try a New Technique Challenge to cut out part of DSP. I'm trying to still do clean and simple cards, because I like to mail my cards, and I find I will do that if I don't have to pay $20 in postage for them. I used More Mustard CS today... I don't think I know the last time I used that color. Ok, now the card details...
Stamp Set: Best Yet
Ink: Not Quite Navy
Paper: More Mustard, Le Jardin DSP
Accessories: Light Blue gingham ribbon
**This card uses a Stay Put Bow... learn how to tie it by clicking on the right column link.
So, TODAY my Big Shot should arrive, along with some other NEW stampin' stuff - took 2 boxes to send it all... how excited am I?! As if that weren't enough... I also get some NEW Cookie Lee jewelry today! Oh wait, there's more... my husband sent me a Valentine's Day present that should be here, as well, today. OMG how ever am I going to make it all day at work?!?!?!!?! I've been buying some Sizzix dies and all at Archivers, Ebay, and Stampin' Up!... I have some sitting in my cabinet (that I cleaned out just for this!) just waiting on the machine... TODAY!!!!!!!!!!

Limited Supplies Birthday

So, today's limited supply challenge was not yet posted, so I did last week's. I guess there is a benefit to being behind on all the challenges... there's always one you can do! Anyway... the challenge was to create a Clean and Simple card. I absolutely love LateBlossom's Thinking of You Stem, so of course, I CASEd it! I'm on a birthday card kick, because my card supply has been depleted.
Stamp Sets: Circle of Friendship, Crazy for Cupcakes
Ink: Basic Gray
Paper: Basic Gray, Regal Rose, Watercolor
Accessories: Regal Rose 5/8" grosgrain, Watercolor Wonder Crayon + Aqua Painter
Punches: 1" Circle, 5 Petal Flower
I'm thinking I'm going to be makeing more of these simple and clean cards... REALLY like the idea, but MAN are they HARD to do! Enjoy!

Sketchy Cupcake

Look at me go... double challenges TWO DAY IN A ROW!!! Here is the color challenge from yesterday and today's sketch challenge. The color challenge was to use Cameo Coral, Old Olive, and Creamy Caramel. I substituted my Caramel for Kraft. I flipped two pieces of the sketch challenge, because I *HAD* to use the Crazy for Cupcakes set that had yet to see ink. Hope I don't get scolded by the sketch police.
Stamp Set: Crazy for Cupcakes
Ink: VersaMark, Basic Gray, Cameo Coral & Old Olive (for watercoloring)
Paper: Cameo Coral, Old Olive, Very Vanilla, Kraft Prints DSP
Accessories: Accents & Elements Flower Fusion (felt flowers), Silver Vintage Brads, Black embossing powder, Zig painty pen, Gelly Roll Stardust and Silver pens
The cupcake is watercolored with an aqua painter and ink pads. I squeezed the ink pad, then opened it. That gave me some ink on the lid to be able to pick up with the aqua painter. I always forget that I can do this!
I've been a very simple cards lately... trying to get back in the groove...

Always Behind

This card I made this morning for last week's color combo and sketch challenge. I went this morning to do the color combo, but the new one hadn't been posted yet. Since I only have an hour until it's time to get ready for work, I had to go with last week's. The color combo was really supposed to be Garden Green, Pacific Point, and Baja Breeze. But since I didn't have either blue In Color ink, I changed to Bashful Blue instead of Baja Breeze. I wanted to use DSP, and that brought me to Wild Wasabi instead of Garden Green. This was the first time I'd used the 2009 In Colors... yeah, I know... I had these rub-ons that I bought at Archivers last year that I happened to see... isn't it cute?! Ok, enough gloating...
Stamp Set: Always
Ink: Bashful Blue
Paper: Bashful Blue, Pacific Point, Basic Black, Confetti White, Wild Wasabi Prints DSP
Accessories: Imaginisce Rub-ons & Rhinestones, Me & My Big Ideas Icons, Gelly Roll Stardust pen

February Calendar

So, I warned you there would be more digital scrapping... The FABULOUS part about digital scrapbooking is there is a TON of FREE stuff. This template was a freebie from j.a.d.y. day studio. How cute is that?!?!?! This will be going with me to work in the morning. SUPER excited!

Almost There...

Ok, so I'm ALMOST there for the room, BUT I'm far enough along to be able to post some stuff. This little happy creation was my swap card for the last Stampahowlics gathering. I've decided I like the 3x6 cards for swaps, because everyone else does "normal" cards, and I can easily see in someone's basket if I've already swapped with them. Look at me go!
Stamp Sets: Pun Fun (sentiment), Zoofari (birds), Doodle jumbo wheel
Ink: Sage Shadow (wheel), Basic Gray
Paper: Perfect Plum, Blush Blossom, Kraft, Confetti White
Accessories: Stampin' Write Markers (Pale Plum, Blush Blossom, Sage Shadow), Basic Gray taffeta, Hemp twine
Punches: Word Window, Crop-a-Dile
I also was able to put up the Decor Elements that I'd been hoarding and "waiting for the right place". What better place than my newly-cleaned stamp room?!?!?! I used flourishes in Kraft and the M in Chocolate Chip. They look like shadows on my Certainly Celery wall... well, that's the color I call it, not really what Lowe's called it.
This morning, I got on the cute little signature band wagon and made one for myself. I will be "tweeking" it over the next few, well, months. And YES I did put in my order from the NEW Stampin' Up! catalog... can't wait to get my Big Shot!! Until next time, which won't be 3 months, I promise...

HELP - I'm drowning in STUFF!

Ok, so there is NO way I could even get to my stamp desk, let alone use it. That's why you have seen NOTHING again from me. I worked all afternoon yesterday getting it cleaned up and reorganized. I told myself that I couldn't order ANYTHING from the new Stampin' Up! catalog until I had a place to put it in the stamp room. I had been bad and LAZY... also another reason for no stamping. So, yesterday, I took just about everything out of the room. I rearranged the furniture, so my desk wouldn't be in the corner. I lined up my plastic mats, so I could roll my chair between my computer and my stamp desk. Now, I think I will use my computer more for things like words inside the cards. I'm also going to start doing more digital scrapbooking. I have a wedding and a honeymoon that is still yet to be scrapped. Bad bad bad me!
Now, I just need to put all the STUFF back in before kick off of the Super Bowl. Wish me luck!
