Sketch Challenge # 148 & Tagged

I had SO much fun doing last week's sketch challenge, I decided to do this week's too. I LOVE the sketches! I love the inspiration I get when I look at the sketch... the ideas just pop into my head. For this one, right away, I saw Bellas! A while back, I bought 3 bellas - javabellas (of course!), shopabellas, and arivadercibella. Right away, I used my javabellas (isn't that right, Kate??). The shopabellas got inked for the first time today (yes, I know - bad, bad, bad, bad, bad). Even worse is Arivadercibella has yet to see ink. She IS on her acrylic block, though, so I'm making progress. Anyway, back to this card...
Stamp: Stamping Bella's shopabellas
Paper: Cutie Pie DSP, Night of Navy, Whisper White
Ink: Jet Black StazOn
Accessories: Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Aqua Painter, Crop-A-Dile, Stampin' Dimensionals
What's the Crop-A-Dile used for you, you ask?? Look closely in the lower right-hand corner... see the three holes?? They're a little hard to photograph because this is a full card, not just a card front. See them???
Ok, as I said before... Heidi tagged me, and I had to do the following:
1. Link to the person that tagged you. (*check!*)
2. Post 7 random/weird facts about yourself on your blog (cause we all want to know how weird you are!).
3. Tag 7 people at the end and link to their blog.
4. Leave comments on each blog that you tag so that they know!

Seven Random Facts:
1. I'm sitting at the computer with my pug, Latte, curled up asleep on my lap. This is probably my favorite thing to do.
2. When I went to the San Diego Zoo for a weekend trip, I took over 500 pictures. Yes, I have a 4-gb memory card for my camera (still needed to download after day 1). This is not an uncommon occurance... I take TONS of pictures. I took 2 DVDs worth at Convention.
3. I met my fiance in the Middle East, where we worked approximately 18" apart for 12 hours a day, 6 days a week.
4. This past weekend, we loaded up the 95-lb German Shepherd Dog (Gandy) and the 5-lb Pug (Latte) into a 4-door sedan. Needless to say, Windex is in order.
5. I am an organization freak! The only problem is - if it doesn't have a place, I can't put it away until I have time to figure out its place. This was a TON of fun moving in to a new house last month.
6. Every year, I give my parents a Christmas wish list, complete with links to websites on where to purchase listed items. Cash is ALWAYS # 1 on the list.
7. I turned 30 this past January, and I still get carded.

Ok, now to pick some victims of my own...
1. Ann's Creative Nook - you've GOT to check out her stuff!!!
2. Sarah's Craftaholics Anonymous - check out her DVD tin Christmas List TOO CUTE!!!
3. Barbara's Ink It Up!, Etc - she sold me on Darling Doodles DSP with her mini brag book!
4. CeeCee's Bilingual Page - It's in French AND English!!!! I HAD to link this one! Check out her clipboard - it's AWESOME!
5. Karen's Watercolored Dreams - I want to go to her Stamp Club!!!
6. Need to Stamp - check out HER Bella creation!
7. Stef's Nutmeg Stamping - it's fall, right? A little nutmeg is in order. Check out her Friendship File - I'm SOOO making that VERY soon!

Ok, now to post some comments... go visit their sites - you won't be disappointed! Later!

Happy Halloween

First of all, let me give you a HUGE

Happy Halloween!!!!!!!
OK, now to my stampin' stuff... I have been CRAZY busy trying to get ready for Halloween in my new neighborhood. It hit me in the middle of Convention this year, that I'll HAVE trick-or-treaters this year. In California, at least where I lived, everyone went to the mall to trick-or-treat. I had *maybe* 3 doorbell rings for Halloween. Most folks aren't home yet during the "approved time" for trick-or-treating beca
use they're commuting 90 minutes each way... enter the mall... ANYWAY... My Mom always made special things for the neighborhood kids when I was young, so I did the same this year. Plus, it gets the word out about my stampin' skills. ;) The 32 bags filled with full-size candy bars and a few smaller ones for some variety (gotta make a good impression the first go around, right?) are decorated with a little tag that the parents can use to scrapbook Halloween.
The tag is a 3.5" square of lightweight chipboard (the stuff that comes in the DSP paper packs). I used glue stick to attach the Creepy Crawly DSP to it, then used the corner rounder to the sides. The Batty For You sentiment is stamped with Jet Black StazOn on Lovely Lilac cardstock, punched out with the 1 3/8" circle punch, then adhered to a scallop punched piece of textured Basic Black card stock. I punched 2 holes in the tag and the bag with my Crop-a-Dile and attached the tag with four different Halloween-themed ribbon that I got at WalMart.
Stamp Set: Batty For You
Paper: Creepy Crawly DSP, Lovely Lilac, Basic Black textured
Ink: Jet Black StazOn
Accessories: Crop-a-Dile, Scallop Circle Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Corner Rounder, Halloween ribbon
But these aren't ALL the stamping I've been doing... last week (and this week), I did some of Splitcoast's weekly challenges. The 3x3's I posted last time were one of them - the color combo. The following cards are for the rest of the challenges I participated in...
Limited Supplies Challenge # 139 - no sentiments, just numbers on the front
I made this card for my friend, Jen's, twins' first birthday in February. Yes, I know, it's a bit far off, but it seemed perfect for this challenge, and the 2 monkeys just screamed twins to me!
Stamp Sets: Circus Train, Headline Numbers, Paisley BG (kissed on the # 1)
Paper: Confetti Cream, Only Orange, Yoyo Yellow
Ink: Jet Black StazOn, Basic Grey (stamped off for the smoke), Wild Wasabi (# 1)
Accessories: Pastels + Blender Pen, Basic Black marker (connect the train), Coluzzle Cutting System

Sketch Challenge # 147
Stamp Sets: Paisley BG, Jumbo Outline Alphabet, Fundamental Phrases
Paper: Sage Shadow, Sahara Sand, Purely Pomegranate
Ink: Sage Shadow, Whisper White
Accessories: River Rock Double-Stitched grosgrain, Mini Library Clips (from SU!'s Holiday Mini Catty seen HERE), Cutter Kit (distressing tool) Dimensionals

Technique Challenge # 139 - Qbee's Peek-a-Boo Box
Stamp Sets: Tagger's Dozen, Sanded BG
Paper: Sage Shadow, Pretty in Pink textured, Sahara Sand
Ink: Sage Shadow, Sahara Sand
Accessories: 1 1/4" Circle punch, 1 3/8" Circle punch, Scallop Circle punch, River Rock Double-Stitched grosgrain, Acetate sheet

Technique Challenge # 140 (Monday's Challenge) - Cracked Glass
This was my FIRST EVER attempt at cracked glass, and I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. It was super easy after I actually opened my container of Glassy Glaze Enamel that I *had* to have immediately after Convention *blush*. Not sure what Cracked Glass is??? Check out THIS TUTORIAL... it's VERY easy to follow! I realized that I used the sketch challenge layout this time, too... hmmmm... guess I like that sketch...
Stamp Sets: Wanted, It's Your Birthday, Sanded BG
Paper: Apple Cider DSP, Kraft, Buckaroo Blue
Ink: Really Rust (horse), Sahara Sand (BG), Chocolate Chip (sentiment), VersaMark (for cracked glass)
Accessories: Glassy Glaze Enamel (with heat tool), Cutter Kit (distressing tool)
Size: 4 1/4" x 4 1/4"
Well, I'm off to do TODAY's sketch challenge... Heidi tagged me yesterday, so I've gotta come up with 7 *odd* things about me... well, 7 that I can share, I guess.... Until next time...

Stampin While the Kids Sleep

As I'm typing this, my baby puppy is in total bliss, as can be seen from the photo on the left. She's using my jacket as a pillow and couldn't be happier. She's is knocked OUT at my feet, but still full of STINKY STINKY STINKY gas. Stinky meerkat!!!
Yesterday, I actually got to stamp. The kids were sleeping, so that was great! It was raining, and I was waiting for the postman to come with all my packages. I've been trading stamps like a fiend! I keep adding more to my trade list when I think it's getting to low (haha), so if you're interested, there's still more stuff. I added Longaberger baskets to my list today, too. You can find my list HERE. If you just want to see the baskets I have available, check out this PHOTO ALBUM (prices are negotiable). Ok, now to the stampin' stuff...

Stamp Sets: Priceless, So Swirly Wheel
Ink: VersaMark, Purely Pomegranate, Basic Gray
Paper: Purely Pomegranate, Bashful Blue, Pretty in Pink Textured
Accessories: Scallop Circle Punch, Pretties Kit (half pearl)
Size: 3" x 3"
For the Bashful Blue sentiment, I stamped off with the Basic Gray because it just seemed too dark when I didn't. I did repetitive stamping (stamping one with a just-inked stamp, then immediately stamping another without re-inking) on the Purely Pomegranate ones, as well, and it was an interesting effect. It almost looks like a shadow, but it doesn't photograph to save it's life! These were for stampingwithlove's 3x3 card swap.
The next project I did was a mini album for Josh's mom, so she could see the kids. I used an old (but brand new in the package) Creative Memories Photo Sharing Card that I found lying around. The old style was an accordion style sheet of paper that you can fit 11 pictures on if you use the front and back. Anyway, that's what I used. I wrote the card as if it were Latte writing. I think it turned out pretty darn cute if I do say so myself! In any event, I think she'll like it... I used a silver gel pen for the writing, since the card was black. The two pictures I've posted are the title page and the closing page.
Since I've signed up for a TON of swaps, there will be many more posts. Until then...

Where Have I Been???

Ok, so WHY haven't I been stamping?! Well, you see... On October 10th, we got a sort-of rescue dog. You have already been introduced to the fabulous Latte the Pug (AKA the Stinky Meerkat... more on that later). Well, she got a BIG brother last week. Let me emphasize the BIG aspect. Her new big brother is a 90-lb German Shepherd Dog (GSD) named Gandolph (Gandy, for short). He's sort-of a rescue because my parents have known this dog his whole life. He was one of Leeza's (my parents' dog) puppies. The owners couldn't keep him, so enter Gandy into our lives! We were going to get a GSD in the Spring, but we couldn't let this good dog go to a shelter. Plus, he's POTTY TRAINED!!! That can't go unnoticed!
Gandy and Latte are just like brother and sister... they play; they fight; they try to take each others' food; they nap... You get the picture. The only thing is - one is 15 times bigger than the other, so they can't do ANY of those things unsupervised. Hence, the stamping hiatus. But that doesn't mean that I haven't been DOING stamping stuff...
Right now, I'm in organization and cleaning out mode, so I'm trading/selling all of the stuff I don't use. You can see what I have in my Fall Clean-up Fest Here. I'm adding more as I come across it (usually about twice a day), so make sure you check back. If you're looking for something in particular, email me, and I'll look to see if I have it.
Additionally, I've signed up for some more swaps (go figure), but I'm also HOSTING a new swap for 6x6 recipes. You can find all the details for The Swap Here. It's a monthly swap, and I can't wait. I really got into the recipes after doing utahstampaholic's Christmas swap. Well, the little one is barking - time to go outside... good girl! More later...

Three More

Ok, so I had two more swaps that I needed to kick out the door today AND I needed to decorate for Halloween, so you get THREE MORE projects... The first is an altered Altoids tin, and yes, it is a REAL Altoids tin. The second is for a monthly ATC swap I do with Bernadine Easton in Florida. Since they're very similar, I've highlighted those ingredients that are different in the two projects. The last is a garland that is hanging on my front door made from Chipboard Coasters. Enjoy your bonus projects!

More Stamping Projects

I've been a busy busy stamper... I'm participating in utahstampaholic's A Very Merry Christmas Swap. I've already posted my 3x3's for that swap. Here's the rest...

The first two photos are for my treat covers. The first is a candy bar wrapper... I chose a different one than normal, but I'm different like that. The second is a tea holder.

Stamp Set Used: Perfect Presentation
Paper: Wild Wasabi Textured, Whisper White
Ink: Purely Pomegranate
Accessories: Tag Punch, Purely Pomegranate Double-Stitched Grosgrain, Silver Elastic Cord, Pretties Kit (pearl), Crop-a-Dile (hold for cord), Sticky Strip

No stamp sets were used... Penguin template is made by Lasting Impressions. The penguin is colored with Basic Black, Lovely Lilac, Pumpkin Pie, Almost Amethyst, & Pixie Pink Chalks. The black chalk is blended with a blender pen and then adhered with dimensionals. The paper used is Almost Amethyst & Whisper White. The tea is held with two Slit punches.

The next two are my 6x6 recipes. These are two of my favorite treats, no matter what time of year!
Stamp Sets Used: Perfect Presentation (north pole), Party Punch - wow two hostess sets!
Paper: Glorious Green (base), Ruby Red, More Mustard (my FIRST time using this!!!)
Ink: Glorious Green
Accessories: Designer Label Punch, Theater Ribbon Originals, Sahara Sand eyelets, Crop-a-Dile (to set eyelets)
Stamp Set Used: Circle of Friendship
Paper: Close to Cocoa (base), Old Olive, Rose Red, Creamy Caramel
Ink: Rose Red
Accessories: Spiral Punch, 1" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, Basic Black eyelets, Crop-a-Dile (set eyelets), Hemp Twine, Dimensionals

These last two projects are just some things I made to take with me to the WCMD event. The bandaid box holds my business cards, and the Boo garland is hanging on my front door now.Stamp Set Used: Business Boosters
Paper: Winter Bright Simply Scrappin' Kit DSP
Ink: Purely Pomegranate
Accessories: Bandaid box (from joanns.com), Purely Pomegranate Double-Stitched Grosgrain, Metal Edge Tag, Pretties Kit (pearl, teardrop bead, hat pin), Sticky Strip, Stirling Silver Glitter, Pop Dots
The glittery strip at the top is made by adhering the glitter to sticky strip. Here's how I do it...
1. Cut a piece of sticky strip... I NEVER go longer than 4" because the sticky strip coils (like DNA), at least it does for me
2. Adhere it to wax paper
3. Pull the backing off the sticky strip
4. Dip in glitter
5. Peel off wax paper and adhere to project
This project takes two of these pieces. They overlap without a noticeable seam. Happy glittering!

I STAMPED!!!!

I have been a busy busy busy stamper! And I'm SOOOO loving my new STAMP ROOM! It's not *quite* complete, but it's plenty ok to crank out a few hundred swaps. :)
This past Saturday (September 29), I got to intrude on Janice Weightman's group meeting. Her group, the Stampahowlics, had a pretty large gathering pretty close to me. I was SO excited! And, she even had convention-style swapping!!! The cards to the left are what I made to swap.
They are 3x6 (no idea, but I'm ALL ABOUT 3x6 & 3x3 right now!). The base is either Night of Navy, Bordering Blue, Not Quite Navy, or Garden Green. I just can't do that many of the same exact card. I did 87 cards, by the way. Ok, before I digress any further... The base was stamped with the Print Pattern background stamp in VersaMark, then a few choice diamonds were decorated with the mini snowflake from the Perfect Presentation hostess set with Encore Silver ink. Additionally, Happy Holidays from the *new* Tags on Board Holiday Mini set was stamped on the base also in silver. The circle sentiment was colored with Real Red and Night of Navy markers and stamped on Whisper White. I cut these out by hand... why?? because I punched them with the WRONG PUNCH first... AAAAHHHH!!!! The Whisper White hand-cut disc is mounted on a 1 3/8" punched Real Red circle that is sponged around the edge with silver. The very center of the flower has been glittered with a 2-way glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds glitter. YES - I used glitter... thank you, Glenda Travelstead (those of you who went to convention know what I'm talking about!). And GUESS WHO WAS AT THE EVENT.... None other that Glenda herself!! I, of course, HAD to give her one of my swaps (even though she wasn't swapping... just returned from Founder's Circle and Advisory Board retreats), and yes, I told her WHY I was giving her a swap. And guess what she did... she GAVE me a chocolate bar (decorated, of course) that she had made for her downline (see photo at right!). How cool was that?! Ok, back to the swap description... the glittered, sponged, and hand-cut disc was mounted with a pop dot over Red Gingham, Real Red Grosgrain, or Wild Wasabi Double-Stitched Grosgrain ribbon.
And the glitter did NOT stop there!!!!!!!!!! The two 3x3's on the left (told you I was into those) are for a HUGE Christmas swap that I'm participating in on SCS.
The first 3x3 has an Almost Amethyst base with the *new* Holiday mini Snow Jumbo Wheel in Ballet Blue. A couple of the snowflakes and one "O" have been glittered (just like the flower center above). The Snowman from the Perfect Presentation Hostess Set is stamped in Not Quite Navy, then glittered! Can you believe it?!?!?! The glittery snowman is closely mounted on Pretty in Pink paper (loving the colors from the Winter Bright Simply Scrappin' Kit!). The tremendous reach of the Crop-A-Dile allowed for the rhinestone brad from the Pretties Kit (love it!) to be attached as a button, and the whole thing is mounted with Stampin' Dimensionals.
The 2nd 3x3 is much like the 3x6 cards above... only the "ribbon" became a band of Night of Navy CS.
My last project was just created TODAY for my Secret Sister... hope she's not reading... if so, SPEAK UP, you! I took a Pretty in Pink 3x3 and wheeled it with the Snow Jumbo Wheel in Ballet Blue. I took a metal-edge tag and stamped it with the Holiday Hello from the Circle of Friendship set in Bashful Blue. She said she liked the Soft Subtles color family, so here you go! :) I attached an Ice Rhinestone brad to the top of the tag and used the new Holiday mini Silver Elastic Cord to make a dangle with beads from the Pretties Kit. The tag is mounted with a pop dot. So easy, but oh so cute (in my opinion!).
I was BUSY prepping for my upcoming World Card Making Day workshop that I'm having at my mom's house. There are 12 confirmed coming... WOW!!! We are making 15 Christmas cards using the Winter Bright SSK, Perfect Presentation Hostess Set, Tags on Board, and a few other random stamps from other SU! sets thrown in for added holiday cheer. :) I will post those soon. Until then...
