Busy Week....

Where to begin... First off, the Prima Share is FULL... it filled in 3 days!! Depending on how this one goes, Kate or I will look into doing another one soon. Secondly, HAPPY APRIL!
Warning - I was a stampin' fiend this week, and this post is LONG (but good!)...

I had my 5x5 Altered Journal and Beaded Pen class, and some folks couldn't come to that, so being the great saleswoman that I am, I took orders and made their books for them. There was, of course, I slight fee for my effort.

Before that could kick off, though, I had to create this card for a co-worker that was moving to China. Yes, I said MOVING to China. What do you make for someone going to China?! They get like 50lbs per suitcase and only 2 suitcases to take. They didn't need stuff, so I went to what has become the ol' standby... the 5x5 journal. I made the cover to match the card (at left), without the Prima or tab. I figured the less layers the less chance it will have of being destroyed en route.
For the card, I used a Saraha Sand base stamped with Weathered background in Chocolate Chip. I stamped the suitcases from Travel Post in Chocolate Chip on Cool Caribbean CS and cut out (yes, I did cut them out... yeah me!!). I didn't have a bon voyage or anything like that stamp, so I opted for wish from last catty's hostess set Small Script. I used BOTH of new Spring Mini punches.... love them both... they'd better make the new big catty!! The spiral punched piece is Marigold Morning (first time using this), and the tab is True Thyme (also a first time use). I really liked how it turned out, and so did she. On the inside, I printed a quote on Marigold Morning (spiral punched, of course), and matted it on Cool Caribbean.

Next project... I'm in the monthly ATC swap that SDiegoGal hosts on SCS. This month, it's melted pearls we're supposed to do. I had NEVER used Pearl Ex before... yes, it was quite intimidating to me, but I thought I'd give it a try. I did this after my journal class and finished the ATCs the morning before the BIG day (yesterday)... yeah, that was a little nuts. That's why I decided the do the new technique on a small scale... only the little flower from my favorite set - Office Accoutrement - on the right-hand side of the ATC is made with the melted pearls. The ATC is Mellow Moss (matched my Prima flower); the background is Notations paper; the sentiment is from Sincere Salutations is stamped in Chocolate Chip on So Saffron, then mounted on Regal Rose; the Office Accoutrement flower is melted pearls on Cool Caribbean paper mounted on a Chocolate Chip tab.

Yup, there's more... While waiting for my stampers to come, I made this little bucket for my mom for Easter. I got the bucket from - where else - the Target $1 spot! It came with the cute bow and everything... My mom LOVES bunnies, and of course, the only bunny stamp I have is microscopic, so what to do... I wanted to use the little hedgehog because it's just too cute. Hedgehogs are so cute when drawn, but I've been to the zoo - they don't look anything like the one on the left here. They sure aren't carrying flowers. But anyway... I stamped Hedggie with Basic Black on Whisper White CS and watercolored him. Yes, I watercolored! I put a yellow brad for the flower center. I really wanted to use my tiny bunny, so can you see him?? He's poking his head around Hedggie's bag. I mounted Hedggie and Microscopic Bunny on the striped side of Petals & Paisley paper. I used the square steps corner punch to make the lace-looking edge on the bottom of the tag. I did use the tag corner punch at the top, so it's a for-real tag. You can't see it behind the ribbon, but I stamped "with love on Easter" in Basic Black. The tag is held on with light pink narrow organdy through the same holes as the turquoise ribbon. There will be tiny goodies in here for Momma and Poppy.

Which brings me to the 5x5 Journals and Beaded Pens...

The slide above shows quite a bit about what was made over the past week... there is more to come, so perhaps, I'll post later. Gwynn's book was an order that I made (hence all the photos). I didn't get any photos of Thursday's stampers... they wanted to go have dinner and such... what's up with that?! Jamila made 3 books - one for her, one for her sister, and one for her mom. That's why they are listed as Jamila Book 1, etc. She didn't want tabs for hers. One other non-photographed book isn't ready yet. It's going to be a wedding shower gift. Once complete, it'll be posted... I think ALL the books turned out absolutely fabulous!
Until next time... (This huge post should keep you for a minute or two)
