Beaded Pen and Altered Journal

Ok, so I've jumped on the beaded pen and altered journal band wagon... I couldn't resist... they are too cute, ESPECIALLY with the office-themed things in the new mini-catalog. How could I resist?! Most of the stampers I work with are new to the craft, so I like to do things a little more simple. Plus, that's really my personality. Anyway, I couldn't help but put together the new mini journal. I'm just waiting on my tag punch to make some tabs for it...
Since I didn't get the other new punch, I had to take the front and back covers off to cover them with paper. What I did find pretty cool was that a little cutter tool from my Cricut Tool Kit fit perfectly inside the square... that was a HUGE help! After I covered the front and back with the Notations paper, I stamped the "memo" from the Office Accoutrement set with Chocolate Chip on Cool Carribean paper. I knew I wanted to monogram this, but I struggled with it... thought about masking the lines in the memo stamp... thought about just using the brackets from it... thought about stamping the letter on the memo stamp... in the end, I chose to stamp with Chocolate Chip ink on Spring Flowers paper. The lighter dots on the "M" actually ARE white dots that were stamped over, not camera flash funk. To finish it off, I opted for the obligatory ribbon... For the class, I'm going to try to dye some ribbon to match the Cool Carribean. Key word - TRY. Luckily, I have a month to get it right. For the pen, I used a scrap of Notations paper, but you can't really see it with the beads flashing. I used the tutorial from SCS found here. This was my first attempt at an altered journal and a beaded pen, so I'm pretty happy with the results and how quickly it went. I think my stampin' friends will enjoy making these! I can't wait!!!
